Really impressed with this Vax, very powerful but quiet and on carpets it drags you along as it is keen to vacuum everything in sight and with very bright LED's it doesn't want to miss a thing. It seems to pick up a lot more than my old stick vaccuum but it could be because it is newer with a newer brush but you can feel the suction seems much better. A couple of things to note. It does seem to take a long time to charge the battery but it does last a long time so they equal each other out. The other thing is that it being so good vaccuming it could have done with a bigger waste bin. That said it is so easy to empty it and more importantly to reinsert it, unlike my last one where you had to fight it ino the ground to get the thing on. Overall very impressed so impressed in fact that I have ordered another one to keep downstairs.

Very good , even if a little heavy with its balance. Battery never held a good charger after about 6 months but manufacturer gave a hassle free replacement. Overall very happy.

This is my 3rd Vax and cheaper than the first two.No1/2 are still usable, but soon developed the same fault. 1:The little flexi see-through hose on the head is weak, leaks and and cracks v quickly.A replacement, though cheap, was too difficult to fit by me.Access impossible. 2:The Brushbar and led lights stopped working at around 2 yrs.It seems there is a breakage in electrical connection within the machine. The bar spins by hand so not clogged.Again imposs to remedy by me. It will be interesting to see how No 3 fairs. It seems exactly the same build but now cheaper and came with a different +less robust charger from Amazon. Having said above the Vax is versatile, suction is super, and it’s easy to maintain and charge. The head is annoyingly hard to remove from the stick though for hand-held tasks.I like the lights and the reason I didn’t buy a Dyson this time was it has a trigger that has to be constantly held apparently. No good for arthritic hands. I haven’t much faith in the Vax 3yr Guarantee as so much is not covered and contacting Vax is not easy. Why? I suspect there may be a new Vax stick on the horizon to compete with other makes, hence the reduced price to date. For all Blade 4’s faults I would recommend it because it is so powerful.

The vacuum cleaner is fine. However the VAX OnePwr battery system is unreliable. I’ve had two batteries die unexpectedly. Fine one day.. then dead the next. I feel it’s a firmware issue rather than an issue with the Li-Ion battery cells themselves. I shall be switching from Vax to Ninja for my next portable vacuum cleaner.

I previously had a Vax Blade 2, which I was impressed with when I first got it, but have had to replace it because you can't change the battery in a Blade 2 meaning that once the battery wont hold its charge you are left with little more than a heap of junk (So much for "saving the planet"!) On reading several reviews and comparisons it was apparent that the vax is no longer a top rated machine, however I decided to upgrade to the Vax blade 4 mainly because I had initially paid for a set of tools which I had hardly ever used because it is so difficult to remove the battery/suction end from the extension tube. (I am a fairly fit man in my mid 60s) On receipt of the new cleaner I unpacked it and the first thing that I noticed that despite upgrading from a Blade 2 to a Blade 4 there has been virtually no design evolution other than the new machine has a detachable battery. However the detachable battery comes with a charging unit which cannot be wall mounted, meaning that it has to be laid on a flat surface, which is rubbish for me as I keep my vax in a small cupboard with no flat surfaces! The second thing that I noticed is that it is still extremely difficult to remove the battery/suction end from the extension tube. Which not only means that my initial set of tools are likely to remain in near virgin condition, but also that the pet hair cleaner that was supplied with this machine is unlikely to get much use. In short it would appear that Vax have gone down the route of what was good enough four or five years ago is good enough today. Why should they invest in costly design changes and production line alterations when they can turn out the same product year after year? I wrote this review whilst waiting for the battery to charge, the last line initially read that I would reluctantly keep the machine unless it packed up. Guess what? Having fitted the battery and tested the machine the brushbar just stops rotating every time I place it on a carpet! Not just one carpet - every carpet in the house! This vacuum is a poorly designed and out of date piece of equipment and will be returned from whence it came first thing on Monday morning! Thanks for wasting my time Vax!
