I've set up my table saw fence up with it and I checked the run-out of my table saw blade. I have had no issues with it or the base. If you're looking for a nice dial indicator for your shop that won't break the bank...I'd consider this one from Clockwise Tools. Review: Works very well, great price, strong magnet - Needed to check runout on my disc brake rotors and some other machined parts, and this unit had good reviews at a reasonable price for a tool that won’t get used much in my shop. I’m happy to report that the magnet holds very firmly, the thumb screw tightens up the joints nicely, and the dial & needle operate smoothly. Seems to be accurate and consistent, too. Works good, has a decent amount of weight to it gives it a quality feel. The case it comes in is a joke. Don't these companies know once you screw on the mount you never take it off? Be sure to look at the "calibration" paper that comes with it. The serial number on the gage didnt match the paper. lmao. I would have been surprised actually if it did!
