Vintage Charm, Modern Performance, and a Tribute to The Sandlot
The Rawlings Sandlot 11.5" Modified Trap-Eze Baseball Glove stands out not just for its performance but also for its Sandlot Edition design, paying homage to the iconic movie The Sandlot. The glove’s vintage aesthetic, featuring rich brown leather and classic stitching, beautifully mirrors the timeless, nostalgic feel of the film. The quality construction, from the durable leather to the flawless finishing, truly encapsulates the spirit of the movie. The craftsmanship is outstanding, which is no surprise coming from Rawlings, a brand known for premium gloves.I bought the "Modified Trap-Eze design", and for me it provides excellent flexibility and ball control, making it perfect for quick plays. Its unique lacing creates a deep pocket, allowing for a secure grip on the ball, and the overall appearance it lends to the glove is amazing. The lightweight construction ensures smooth and swift movements, enhancing overall fielding performance. This glove is great for the casual and competitive player alike. One thing to note is that this glove is extremely stiff out of the box—common with high-quality leather gloves. It feels rigid, and it’s clear that some effort is needed to get it game-ready. Fortunately, I already had a great break-in process in mind. Here's what worked for me:I used Ariat mink oil paste, boot brushes, and a custom-made rubber mallet that I shaped using a grinder. First, I applied a light coat of the mink oil paste, focusing on the pocket area to soften the leather and help the glove become more flexible. Mink oil is great for conditioning and softening the leather while protecting it from drying out. Once I had it well-coated, I grabbed the mallet and began pounding the pocket, working the leather to form a nice, deep pocket. Repeating this process over time significantly softened the glove and helped shape it perfectly for my hand. This method, using mink oil and a mallet, is highly recommended by experts. Both the Bruce Bolt and Rawlings guides emphasize the importance of physically working the glove to break it in effectively. Using a mallet helps create a well-defined pocket and allows the glove to mold to your hand for a personalized fit, which enhances control on the field. The palm darkens noticably during this process, so be sure to use leather brushes to spread the oil out after the initial application to create a pleasing gradient. Don't apply to much to the "fingers" of the glove, as you want those to remain stiff for a secure capture of the ball.Overall, the Rawlings Sandlot glove has become incredibly comfortable after a thorough break-in. The attention to detail, from the leather quality to the beautiful aesthetics, makes it not only functional but also a piece of gear you can truly admire. Highly recommend it!

Quality glove, not quality price
Absolutely wonderful glove. The fit was exactly as specified. Break-in has been a breeze. I've simply used it to break it in. Initially stiff, I had my son chuck balls at me for about 200-250 throws. It has a nice deep pocket to ensure the ball is secure when you field it, however, stays "poppy" enough that you can do very fast transitions between pocket and hand. The look is amazing. Padding seems to be as standard as any other. I'm looking to get the mitt and another Trapeze infielder for my son.

Great baseball glove for the weekends.
Got this glove for the upcoming softball season and realized it’s a little bit more of a baseball glove. It looks really good. It feels good on your hands. Once you get past the crazy stiffness of a new glove.

Durable, comfortable, doesn't break the bank.
Had to retire my Little League glove from over 30 years ago as my son was becoming more interested in baseball. After a ton of research along with testing, I found the glove quality and color very . The size is accurate, comfortable and the leather is very durable. This glove has potential to become the glove my youth player could grow into.Break-in is about 50/50 from the factory. Worked it for about a week with mallet, catch and practice and it's showing signs of lasting a long time.

Great Quality On a Budget
If you’re a dad trying to keep up with your kids baseball career as a pitcher, and on a budget … this catchers mitt is the way to go . Is there better .. yes. But for the money .. this is more than enough . Great quality. Great feel. Break in is moving along quickly considering I’m going the natural route by just using it. Can’t say enough about this mitt. So again, if you’re on a budget and your kid is throwing hard, this mitt is the way to go.

nice glove
I don't play baseball or softball but I'm just a dad of a 9 yr old who plays in a local Pony league and loves baseball and wants to pursue it. This is a great glove for my purposes. I play catch with my son for about 30 minutes a day after work. The glove was really easy to break in. I put glove oil on it twice and also did the hot water treatment about a week later, beat it with a glove mallet and used a Lizard Skin glove wrap on it for a few days and most importantly played catch with it and it is broken in nicely now. I flared out the thumb, curled the fingers, and broke in the hinges so it closes thumb to ring finger while using it two in the pinky. It has a really nice deep pocket like it should as a pitchers glove. The leather is good quality and I can tell that this glove will last years based on my usage. It's not a Heart of the Hide or A2K or anything but I'm also not paying $300-400 for this either nor am I pursuing a career in baseball. For my son, I will get him a nicer glove but for me this is perfect. Not much a fan of the color as it’s that wine red color. I was expecting or hoping it would be more of a brownish tint but it’s not a deal breaker.
