My risers were 24 inches and cutting out the smaller ring on the adapter plate with a utility knife was easy. The hardest part was getting a fairly clean concrete surface on the tank. After using a heat gun to dry it out and wire brush it as in pretty good shape. We used tapcon screws and butyl tape to secure and seal it. The installation was straight forward and within 30 minutes the riser was installed. Review: Great Products, but read the following concerning installation. - I installed two of these adapters along with two 12-inch risers with heavy duty Polylok lids this past weekend at our "weekend retreat". The quality is impeccable and they fit well (snap fit once aligned) to be secured with stainless steel screws. The lids came with seventeen (#10 x 3"??) hex head screws (one spare as you only need eight per lid) which comes in handy if one ends up in the tank :) A couple of pointers: 1) Be prepared to cut the plastic adapter if you are using it on a 24" diameter system. No big deal, but an unexpected 5 minute chore with a sabre saw or SawzAll with a small blade. A helper is handy to rotate the adapter ring as you run the saw. I dressed up the cutting job with a file and a piece of emery cloth (30 seconds). 2) The next item is a bit of a issue with me as when you are supplied with the 3" screws mentioned above for the heavy duty lids, one might assume that since the lids can mount directly to the adapter rings (no riser needed), that 3"screws would also be necessary for attaching the riser to the adapter ring... wrong. After hunting around for 3" SS screws at my local ACE and paying a buck each for them, imagine my disappointment (an hour away from anywhere) when I found out the screws were too long. I will need to return the 3" screws for some shorter ones (I'm thinking 1 1/2" maximum length will do). This all could have been avoided had someone with Polylok, vendors, or desertcart mentioned that eight SS screws (# 10 x 1 1/2" ??) are needed to secure a riser to an adapter ring. ## Features - NOTE: This adapter will only work for PolyLok Risers.
