Writing to God: 40 Days of Praying with My Pen (Active Prayer Series)

Rachel Hackenberg has really hit the mark with this book. If you're tired of reciting the same prayers over and over again without feeling personalization then this book is for you. Rachel does an excellent job giving a sample prayer and then putting a scripture reading to go with it. There is even space for you to write your own prayer on each page. This book has helped me to feel a deeper connection with God as I am able to praise Him with my own words instead of ones that someone else has written. It was very refreshing to find a devotional that I put some work into to get something personal out of. Rachel has defintely changed the way I pray!

I loved using this for Lent. The prayers that Rachel has in the book and the brief questions that she asked caused me to be able to dive deeper into my faith and connect with God. I love to write so I really appreciated using this tool that she developed.

What a great way to change things up. Praying with a theme in mind. It's like journalling, but a little different. I am only on day 8, and at first I wondered if this was going to work for me. The author penned such poetic prayers, and mine weren't going to measure up that way. But, she reminded the reader that it isn't about poetry.It's about being real and honest before God. Try it. You might like it!

Beautiful journey through Lent with this book. I have grown so much through these prayers - both those written by the author and those I've written myself as a result of the prompts. I like it so much I'm going to get a copy for my niece's Confirmation.

I was trying to find a nice devotional to use and this was the perfect starter since only 40 days instead of the normal 365. It's meant to be used for the season of Lent, which is what I used it for, but it definitely can be used for any 40 days of your life. I love it because I enjoy writing and it's one way I hadn't thought to use to connect to God.

I used this book during Lent last year. One of the best 40 day journeys I've ever had! I don't consider myself a writer or a journaler but the readings, scripture and simple writing prompts were just right for me and I believe this would be the case for many others as well.

Writing to God gives direction for those of us who aren't are looking for ways to imcrease the power and consistency of our prayers. The writer also points out several reasons to make our prayers permanent. There is a special section with suggestions for a prayer-writing during Lent.

I have purchased this book before. I really liked it. It is a wonderful book for Journaling. I have purchased this book this year to use during Lent. It is wonderful to reflect on conversations with God.
