I'm a bit fussy with lighting, I have Philips Hue all the way through the house now, but I needed to get some smart lights for a garden room that was too far away to get signal to the Hue hub. I've been a fan of tp-link gear for some time, from both a networking and smart home perspective, having bought some smart switches previously (both Kasa and Tapo which all worked well, never had a problem). So I bought four of these lights and installed them the other night, first impressions were good, the lights were bright, colours seemed good. The big test was how easy they would be to control and automate with the Tapo App.I've got to say I was impressed with the way they allowed you to group the lights to turn them all on at once, or in a single automation with schedule/etc. It's not as good as using the Hue app, but it does a good job and I would recommend them.The price point is pretty good for what you get, I had all four lights setup, firmware updated and in use within about 10-15 minutes. Very happy with them.

Bought to use with other Tapo products so I only need one app on my phone.Using this in an outdoor light fitting (waterproof) so that I can switch on the light when I arrive home and see the lock for my key.Works exactly as expected and integrates in to my home automation.

Made the mistake of running these side by side with the cheap Tuya bulbs I was replacing. The Tuyas are not only brighter, but their cool white setting is a far more convincing white. You can see the Tapo bulbs mixing in blue/purple from the colour LEDs to try to balance out the colour temperature of the whites. The Tuya bulbs didn't do this.To be fair, they perform fine in everyday use, and this isn't really noticeable when you're not doing a side-by-side comparison.They work well in Home Assistant, though it seems Tapo stuff requires a HACS add-on, which (in spite of locally controlling the bulbs) apparently needs Internet to function. This contrasts with the older TP-Link Kasa devices, which had native Home Assistant support and were truly local.It works fine in the Tapo app on Android, and a nice touch of that is that there's backward compatibility for Kasa, so I can work all of my TP-Link smart home stuff from one place.

I have several Tapo Smart products and it always seems to transform my life with virtually no effort. The way that you can group these in sets and have just about any colour/mood setting you like - and all off a 2.4GHz wifi connection is fantastic!. I have a separate wifi connection for these devices set up from my router and so far it has been flawless.If one thinks back to when you had to chase out walls to install larger gang dimmer switches - for not much functionality it is easy to see why I am a great fan of these.At the price of £7.99 each, I would have to purchase an awful lot of these to equal the cost it used to be - with less functionality.

The set up of these lights was very easy via the app. Can now schedule the lights to come on/off and colour change all via the app. Great product.

These bulbs do everything they are advertised to do. They’re great except every 2-3 days they just report as disconnected from the network and they won’t turn on from the app or the light switch. That’s completely unacceptable and TP-Link seems to be aware of the problem but either cannot or will not do anything about it. And that’s also unacceptable. So I cannot recommend anyone buys these bulbs (or anything else Tapo) until TP-Link get their act together and sort out the disconnection issues.

I bought this for use in an outdoor light that only accepted this type of bulb. I wanted the light to come on at dusk and turn off intelligently at sunrise, without having to make things more complicated by installing a daylight sensor and tapping into the power supply. Even though I couldn’t see if this was suitable for use in outdoor fittings, it’s been working perfectly for the past couple of months, in cold and rain. The brightness is much lower on the coloured modes, but as a porch light I mostly have it set well below 50% brightness anyway, so it’s more than bright enough. I’m also able to programme it to turn off in the dead of night when I’m likely to be in bed, which saves more money than if I were to have a daylight sensor on it, meaning there would be no choice but to have it on all night long unless I manually turned it off.Bonus feature is being able to make it a mad colour on special occasions like Halloween, to advertise your home is open for business!

It is not possible to use two schedules to have the lamp coming on with a cool white then switching to a warm light. Only the first schedule colour works which is a fail.
