Review: Excedes Expectations, +Project Suggestion - Fantastic drive worth every penny. I was surprised when I first saw the price when considering purchasing, then later surprised again by the build quality and R/W speed. Build: The product is very durable and has held up to over 2 years of abuse on my keychain. Performance: The read/write speed on this drive is great, considerably faster than any USB 2.0 device. I do freelance design, and I use this regularly for large file-drops to or from clients. It's nice not having to wait around for the transfer to complete. Fun Experiment: I recently bought two more of these drives and configured them as a RAID 0 partition to get a little more speed, works like a charm(doubles performance) and has been recognized by every computer I've plugged it into. A 64GB+ drive with R/W ~ 300/200 that fits in your pocket for ~$30? Just try it. NOTE: there is room for error with RAID 0, so make sure you have a back-up of whatever you're putting onto the setup. Con(but not really): This thing is tiny, it went missing on a couple occasions when not on my keychain. Definitely attach it to something like your keys or a lanyard if you don't want to loose it.
Review: Great low-profile option for Tesla Sentry-cam storage drive - Transcend 32GB JetFlash 710 USB 3.1/3.0 Flash Drive: $10.99 at the time of review I was an early adopter of the Model 3 electric car from Tesla. I pre-ordered mine the very first day I could and waited a couple of years for delivery. And you know what? I LOVE it! It was worth every minute of wait and penny of the price. After a little while Tesla enabled the built in cameras to be used as a dash cam to protect you while you drive. But in order to use it, you have to plug a USB drive in to store the video files. I chose this drive because it is tiny. I didn’t want the drive I used to stick out too much for fear that something in that compartment would get stuck on it and break it. Well, I got what I asked for. This little fella is *tiny* *What I liked*: As I just mentioned, it fit my desire for a tiny little drive that didn’t take up too much room. It only stuck out like ⅔ of an inch! It worked perfectly for my needs. I just stuck it in the USB port and the car recognized it, formatted it, and started to record to it on my first drive after install. *What I didn't like*: Honestly, the only thing I didn’t like about it was the storage capacity, and that’s not its fault. As it turns out I should have just bought the 64GB version. *The Bottom Line:* This is great drive to record videos to in a Tesla. It’s also tiny enough that if you wanted to keep it on your keychain to have a portable drive, you wouldn’t even notice it’s there. For just over $10 bucks (or just under $15 for the 64GB version), this is a total five stars out of five. I’d definitely buy it over again.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Speed benchmarks please?**
A: I bought this flash drive to make an experiment on my Design for Quality class. I compared this flash drive with another (Silicon Power), both are USB 3.0 and 16 GB. This flash drive had great performance reading in a USB 3.0. However, analyzing other factors it was not as good as the Silicon Power one. After copying 32 files with each of them, these are the results:Reading a 300 MB file using USB 3.0:Transcend: 3.72 sec (average)Silicon Power: 8.34 sec (average)Writing a 300 MB file using USB 3.0:Transcend: 15.45 sec (average)Silicon Power: 9.87 sec (average)Reading a 300 MB file using USB 2.0:Transcend: 14.68 sec (average)Silicon Power: 14.59 sec (average)Writing a 300 MB file using USB 2.0:Transcend: 28.09 sec (average)Silicon Power: 16.21 sec (average)Conclusion: To read files using USB 3.0, it is an excellent flash drive. To write using USB 3.0, it is on average. To read and write using USB 2.0, it does not have a so good performance. Also, these conclusions were made in specific situations, other tests should be done.

**Q: I've had trouble with flash drives not allowing me to copy large video files. Any advice on this one used in that way to deliver raw video files?**
A: Thumb drives almost always come pre-formatted as FAT32. You cannot copy files larger than 4GB. If your file is larger, I suggest you copy all items on that drive to your hard disk, re-format the thumb drive to NTFS, copy your files back onto it and try the larger file again. It should work. Microsoft has limits on the filesystem FAT32 but none that I know of on NTFS.

**Q: Will this fit on a typical A&P wire ring? I have doubts that the threaded end of the A&P will fit the flash drive keyring slot.**
A: No! It will not, I bought this for this exact purpose only to find it will not fit. The threaded end will not fit through the opening. I read the people who said yes and ordered it, but they are wrong.

**Q: Picture shows a drive labelled "usb 3.1" which i think would use the newer type c connector. is this really standard usb 3.0?**
A: The usb 3.1 standard does not require the use of the new type-C connector. Manufacturers may still use type-A connectors for beter backwards compatibility.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great USB storage device with a minor flaw in its design.
*by L***C on February 19, 2015*

Pros: As a portable USB storage device, this works perfectly. Read/Write speeds are as advertised and formatting it to work with your operating system is a breeze and takes very little time. Mounting it the first time resulted in no response from the OS, but who knows, maybe I didn't plug it in correctly? However, it's been working fine since. This aspect of the USB drive works perfectly now. It is built extremely well and I feel that it's dust/shock resistance is a real statement to it's build quality - I believe it after dropping my keys with this thing attached quite a few times. Nothing seems cheap about the construction, considering the price, however the laser-etched logo on one side is a tad blurry, not that you want to be staring at a logo while using it. It serves its purpose as branding and if this is what helps keeps a great product like this stay cheap, by all means, keep doing it. Faster read/write performance would be a key area of interest for me. Cons: Now to a negative, and the only negative: it's keychain functionality. Unless you have a perfect circle (and I DON'T mean the keychain's loop that from its construction, I mean the actual width of metal going through the loop of the USB drive), it stands up right and will not move unless you move it to a thinner part of the ring. It can make for uncomfortable juggling your keys in your pocket, as well as sometimes even making it difficult to grab one of the keys themselves. This isn't a deal breaker for me, because having storage on you at all times is useful. I just wish there was more real estate for keychain rings to move around without a secondary, smaller key ring to remove the problem.
