Operates properly, but koi are too smart
It's not entirely fair to fault this product on the basis that, though it does what it is supposed to do, some fish are smarter than this design. As a result my overall rating is particularly high considering this net didn't work for me. That being said, there are some improvements that can be made to possibly make this net more effective.I am using this net in a controlled environment to catch a lot of 4-6" Koi I'm donating. I managed to catch one with this net (who managed to jump out of it), short of the 40-50 I wanted to catch. Countless times since then, over the course of a couple months, I have attempted to use this net again. My fish will not swim over this net. If my fish are caught in a corner and have to dart to the area this net is in, they go around the net.The net does reliably retract, but I do believe that camouflaging the net and the line would help in this scenario. The float being bright blue might not be the best choice for my particular application. There are likely applications where this will work. Particularly in an area where fish are coming and going and aren't yet fearful of this net. In that scenario, having bright colors on the net, line, and float are probably advantageous (as you can easily see where the net is in muddy waters). In my case, I'm going to try painting it black to see if my fish will go near it.Probably not.

No good for crabbing
Too thin for crabbing.
A**.
It seems fragile.
It doesn't look like it's going to last long but the kids will enjoy it till it breaks.

Decent
I use it to help me get fish in the deck when I'm pier fishing. If you use it for that I recommend that you put a 4 oz weight so the current doesn't pull it.

Only one flaw
I received this today and am very pleased thus far.Pros:1) Well constructed* webbing is small enough for smelt and other small baitfish.2) Collapsible feature is an awesome space saver!3) Bait pouch seems sizable enough to do the job.Cons:1) The “rope” is very thin plastic string/twine. I’m thinking maybe some paracord is in order for tossing off the pier.

Tears easy
Extremely flimsy, not good to use on a jetty. Tears on rocks. Enough crab in it will tear it open as we'll

not for Dungeness or Rock crab
didn't realize the hoops also folded - thought they were solid. This won't work for Dungeness or rock crabs, they weigh too much, and they'll shred the fabric - I'm planning to return it

Thinning hatchlings form Koi Pond
I have about 30 fingerlings in my 1,000 gallon Koi pond, that I needed to remove. It took several days for the small koi to start swimming over the net, but with the high sides that pull up first and blocks the escape it works really well.It seems to be made of good material.
