Working well so far.
I purchased a used Volvo a few months ago and found that the key fobs were very unpredictable - sometimes the worked and sometimes they didn't. I didn't replace the whole unit , just the keypad part and, so far, after several weeks, they are still working well.Better than paying a few hundred quid for a genuine Volvo key fob.

Cheaply made but effective
If your fob is just worn out, this product is ideal because you only need the front face (with buttons). The new back and blank key blade can be discarded. It's very easy to remove the old face and snap on the new one (leaving the circuit board, battery etc undisturbed). Worked perfectly for me, and so much cheaper than any Volvo dealership alternative. The product overall however is of inferior quality, for example the key blade is retained with a plastic catch unlike the steel Volvo original.

Economical Repair - But There's a Problem
When my Volvo dealer quoted me hundreds of pounds to replace my car key whose catch (which attaches the fob to the key ring retainer) had broken, I looked for a cheaper option. This key case fits that bill if you can get it to work - the moulding unfortunately does not include the beneath battery packing (see photo 1 - Volvo original key fob on the right) to ensure there is a battery connection with the circuit board contacts (see photo 2) when the case is clicked closed. I got around this by packing the area under the battery with a 3mm thick rubber buffer pad - then everying worked perfectly.Unit is also less srong than the Volvo original - i managed to break the first one I bought when I levered the cover off with a small screwdriver (which you have to do). However, even buying two of these is cheaper than the Volvo alternative. And with a new battery, I'm hoping I will have sold the car before i need to open up the key again!

Half a Case !
The back side of the case contains a blank plastic section which is not programmable to the key. I used the front and put on the back of my old key which has the required programmed unit . This works ok as it’s only the front buttons which were worn. If you have a damag d circuit board or back it would not be any good
