SRAMDisc Brake Lever Internals - Version 2, for Guide R, Guide RE, DB 5, and Code R

Great fit, repaired my SRAM Guide R Lever, just hope they last longer than the original.

Turned out to be a little more in depth than I anticipated, but I was able to do what my local bike shop couldn't even diagnose, and it took less than 2 hours with most of the right tools. Make sure you know what tools you need before you start this repair! I was lacking a very tiny torx bit, and my circlip tool barely fit down into the cylinder.

This kit works for the Guide RS brake lever also. Fixed my sticking brake lever issue. The old piston was very tight in the bore of the lever, it took some force to push it out. It appears that the seals are the issue on mine, as they were swollen and degrading. A lot of black residue in the bore and on the piston.

The piston (the white item in the picture) had a well-documented bad first run. They tended to swell up and bind in the brake housing. Both of mine failed, not at the same time. Replacing them isn't too terribly difficult, except that removing the circlip can't be done with the lock ring pliers I bought specifically for this, because the ring is inside of the brake housing.I was able to pick the ring out with a bent pick tool, and put the spare one from the kit back in as the original was somewhat damaged by removal.You'll also need a bleed kit to purge air from the lines, that'll set you back another $50. The rest of the parts weren't needed.

Works. Fixed 1st Gen sticky pistons issue on my 2016 model DB5 brakes. Still working after months and months of riding. You're going to need the right tools, particularly a fine tipped, longish (3+ inches) reach set of snap ring pliers and good lighting to see what the heck you are doing.

Great rebuild kit! Saved a ton of money. Not too hard to install either. This was a last minute repair on a customer bike. I honestly didn’t know if it would work but these gen 2 internals worked great!

Wow! My guide brakes work like new again. A little difficult to install but worth it. My brakes would freeze up in hot weather. I took them apart to find the internal plastic piston would expand and stick to the lever cylinder. This kit fixes the issue.

My front guide RE brake lever wasn't returning very well. Ordered this, arrive next day, fitted same day and fixed it nicely. It's now silky smooth, in fact much nicer than the rear which I thought was ok. Might have to do that too 🤔

Niente da eccepire

Recambio perfecto para un mal endémico de esta bazofia de frenos. Si quieres buenos frenos elige Shimano sin dudar. No se puede hacer un pistón de plástico en unos frenos de una e-bike. Se calienta, se expande y se deteriora, hecho que acaba en un mal funcionamiento. Este recambio resuelve el problema hasta la próxima.
