Like many people, I rarely need an RS-232 serial connection these days—but when you do need one, nothing else will do.I bought this specifically to update the firmware on my Denon DN-500AV, which requires a traditional serial connection. Modern laptops obviously don't include RS-232 ports anymore, so this adapter was exactly what I needed.The installation was straightforward, my Mac recognised the adapter without any issues, and the firmware update completed successfully on the first attempt. When you're updating firmware, the last thing you want is an unreliable connection, so I was pleased that it worked flawlessly.The adapter itself feels well made, with a decent-quality cable and solid connectors that don't feel loose or flimsy.I've gradually become a fan of UGREEN accessories over the years. In fact, while travelling in Guangzhou, China, I even made a point of visiting one of their retail stores. Everything I've bought from them—whether it's charging cables, display cables, hubs or adapters—has been consistently reliable, and this serial adapter is no exception.RS-232 may be old technology, but plenty of professional AV equipment, industrial devices and networking hardware still rely on it. If you need a dependable USB-to-serial adapter for maintaining legacy equipment, I'd happily recommend this one.

Works just as described.I use this cable to connect my car ECU to my laptop. There were no issues and no need to change any wiring.The quality of the components and cable is good. It's lasted quite a while.

Worked first time with a fully updated windows 11 desktop computer, needed a serial port to usb cable and this just worked, no drivers to install, always had good results with anything UGreen…. So 10/10 for this item…

I have been happy with this adapter having used it for 2 years. It installs easily. However, I've just spent quite a lot of time trying to get it to receive at 31.25kHz (same speed as MIDI) and found it just will not do so, presumably the chipset only accepts a standard range of baud rates (e.g. 9600, 19200, 57600 etc). For those rates it is a good choice. But for something less standard you'll need something else. In my case luckily I also have a Startech USB to Serial lead, and that does work fine at 31.25kHz. On the other hand, the UGreen has a higher top rate. So, horses for courses.Amazon has again asked me to rate this product for "Sheerness". I've never been to Sheerness so my 5 star Sheerness rating is entirely arbitrary and should not be used as the basis for any actual evaluation of Sheerness.

It is functioning nicely as a means of controlling my NIR spectrometer via the spectrometer's parallel D25 serial connection, using a D25 to D9 serial adapter.My PC lacks the now scarce D9 serial port, so a USB to Serial D9 cable represents my only option. This Ugreen cable has a chip inside, in order for it to be recognised by Ubuntu 20.04 linux OS, which it is, natively.The NIR spectrometer software requires Windows XP or Windows 7 but a Virtualbox virtual machine (VM) runs both Windows OS's as guest OS's under Ubuntu 20.04 LTS host OS.This cable enables a serial connection on Virtualbox as serial host machine (not host pipe). Select the dummy guest Windows COM port, IRQ and address and save. Be sure to allow all users read access to the USB serial host device in a linux terminal, using: " sudo chmod 666 /dev/ttyUSB0".After setting up the VMs and configuring the serial connection it worked very well.I would have opted for a longer cable than the one metre length, had this been an option, but a Ugreen USB male to female extension cable privided the necessary reach from PC on my desk to table with NIR spectrometer.Overall a very useful cable indeed.

Works fine, but I can't screw it to my Cisco serial to RJ45 cable, so I returned it. Came with a CD but I did not use it as I use Mac OS and it was plug and play.Wish I'd looked at the picture and known this 'cause otherwise it's a nicely made cable if you don't use Windows 7 and have to worry about drivers.

Inside the Box have Cable and Driver installation Disk, and tested and working fine.

This USB-2-SERIAL worked to perfection in my slightly odd setup. Linux Mint VirtualBox HOST + Windows XP 32bit GUEST. The 1st FTDI based adapter I purchased didn't want to find a driver (from the FTDI site - not clear AT ALL!) that would allow it to function. It essentially worked with Linux etc... but not specifically here, in my specific setup. This UGREEN adapter worked PERFECTLY. The driver was clearly marked and installed like a dream on XP. A rule in life: Not all things work all the time in every situation. Even identical items. p.s. The Ugreen (non-TEMU) packaging was first class and the physical cable was, wait for it... yes, 1st CLASS :) Even if had not worked, you felt like it could have and it had to be the installers fault. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ WOULD PURCHASE AGAIN.

Es compatible con windows 10, el cable es muy flexible y de buena calidad.Perfecto para utilizarlo en una lap-top o una pc de escritorio que no cuente con el puerto serial.

Excelente calidad, se siente más robusto que otros y al mismo (o menor) precio, los acabados también se ven mejor. Funciona bien y se ve muy bien.
