A beautiful movie.
I find very few movies that I just truly enjoy (or would recommend). This is one of them. It is just a great movie.

A Model Doctor
We all have, or at least have had, doctors we trust and even love. Too often, however, many of us have complaints about doctors' priorities, quality time spent with us, attitudes, and even competence. Alongside the Hippocratic Oath should be placed a model doctor, indeed, a saint according to the Roman Catholic Church, Giuseppe Frascati. The film Giusepe Frascati: Doctor to the Poor presents viewers with a strong sense of this selfless physician's life among those who crave his services. Despite keen opposition from mercenary, exclusive, or negligent fellow doctors and administrators, Giuseppe Frascati goes quietly but forcefully about his job of healing patients on every social level. The sick poor feel free to enter his house and state their needs. Youngsters hardened and criminal on the streets of Naples cling to him, trust him, love him. Dr. Frascati gives himself tirelessly to his benevolent tasks, often endangering his own health, keeling over from exhaustion, depriving himself of sleep, pleasures, and, on one occasion, furniture, in order to purchase supplies and conduct procedures. Whether or not we're talking about formal canonization, one must say that this accurate depiction of a saintly doctor inspires and often moves viewers to tears. Doctors, nurses, LPN's and laypersons alike may draw inspiration from this moving yet unsentimental treatment of the life of an exceptional person.

A superb movie that ALL should see !!!
My urologist is a FANTASTIC doctor and superb lady. She's young, pretty, intelligent, kind, thoughtful and has helped me through some tough medical problems. When I saw this movie, I thought of her and got her a copy. Oh! She's Jewish, but don't let the religious angle (Moscati being a Catholic saint) get in the way... This is a fantastic movie. It came on EWTN one day after a show I was watching there, but I wasn't interested... especially as it was in Italian. I normally do not like to read the English language captions... not at all. Even with the movie playing on the TV without my full attention, I was drawn to it and it took just minutes for me to stop what I was doing and pay full attention to the flick.AMAZING! What a wonderful and inspirational story... and a true one at that! This world needs movies like this. It won't win anyone in it an Academy Award or be tops in the box office charts, but it should. You WILL enjoy this wonderful movie. And so will your family. I HIGHLY advise you seeing this!!!

a movie I keep watching and buying over again
This has got to be one of the most inspiring movies I've ever seen, and I have seen many. Even though there may be some deviation from his true history, the movie is so well done you are left moved and impacted by this man's life. Fantastic expression for people of all faiths, not just Catholic. I have made it required viewing for my employees and board members. This is just simply a great study on compassion and will inspire, perhaps especially those who work with people and their medical and personal needs. I keep buying the video because I keep giving it away and no one wants to give it back!

A wonderful story of this improbable saint who could have been ...
A wonderful story of this improbable saint who could have been something in the eye's of his country their way, but chose God and His way instead, when there were no doctors willing to do things effectively and differently to aide the sick and dying, he came along and turned the medical field on it's heels, then proceeded to do rather than wait for the patients to just die, some parts of the movie are made up story's, but the bulk of the movie is a powerful statement on what one person could do to make the majority of doctors take notice of him and his techniques, which were incorporated into the Italian medical field's daily practice of helping all patient's in a new light, well worth the watch+

Good movie, even if fictionalized
I am rating this well only because it's a very good story. I would have given it 5 stars but it really is very fictionalized and so I downgraded it for that. The things that make the story more interesting - the romance, the supposed miracle appearance to a friend after death to return a ring - those thing most likely did not happen. If things like that are taken away, I suspect the story would be kind of boring. You would see a mostly ordinary man who really just wanted to help people as a doctor and focused on treating those who couldn't afford medical care. It doesn't make him less of a saint, just not the kind that would have Hollywood appeal.

each actor perfect in their roles
This movie rates among the top three movies I have seen in my lifetime of 87 years. Everything: the background music, each actor perfect in their roles, screenplay,,compelling interest in plots and subplots, A fascinating portrayal of human life situations that keep you glued to the screen. If this picture came out of Hollywood it would have swept all the awards. I wish I understood Italian but as one who dislikes subtitles I actually enjoyed them. I have seen this film over and over again; have purchased numerous copies for relatives and friends and maintain a lending library of three copies to share with acquaintances. This film is a must for any Christian and especially Catholics.

Excellent Video
Very well done, and you must watch it multiple times to catch the meaning of several scenes, and the hidden virtue of the Saint, such as knowing the hearts of the people he came in contact with, most especially Giorgio Piromallo, so that Dr. Moscati never had a negative demeanor with any experience he had, however painful it may have been. To me he was like a Mother Teresa in his medical profession. I highly recommend.

What a Modern Day Saint
This dvd is a must and it is to be watched the whole way through. The ending must be thought about very carefully as it reveals the final reason Dr Moscati became a Saint. If I had children I would get them to watch this and explain the reasoning behind it.
