Spray pump
Good quality and size, box damaged and small part missing lucky I had a old one to connect metal tube to trigger, good value otherwise,

Works well
Does the job. Holds a decent amount of liquid. Robust

Good Pump needs one adjustment to be perfect.
Very simple to use, a decent adjustable spray pattern. My only criticism is the wand it’s plastic/fibreglass similar to tent poles. Very stiff and feels brittle. The wand I received looked fine until I pressurised the bottle for the first time and it had some hair line cracks in it, which started to leak. Manged to finish the bottle despite the cracks. I think over time even if you received a good wand it would be the first thing to go. Returned it for the 5 litre with brass wand as the bottle and mechanism itself were good, pity they don't do a 8ltr with brass wand.

Great to modify for uPVC cleaning.
I love it. I'm a window cleaner. I bought the 8l version. The standard kit is great. Make sure you put the seal on the threaded exit from the tank to the lance. Keep it safe. Without it, the unit loses pressure/air. I wanted to get a cheap foamer to allow greater dwell time or contact time of the chemicals I use. I therefore modified the internal dispensing tube and experimented a touch to add pressurised air to the uPVC cleaner and water mix. To do that I found about 2 pin size holes sufficient in the internal clear pipe above the waterline. Then I put a small length 1.5 inches long of pipe cleaner about inside the lance also had success with stainless steel wool from a scrubbing pad. More length to create finer foam. Stainless wool first then the pipe cleaner. Experiment... I used a presta air valve, as cheaper than a schrader valve, to allow me to add air pressure from a compressor. The safety valve activates on mine at around 33psi. I use it at 25 psi generally. I love not pumping to spraying as much. Leave space for the compressed air in the bottle to get greater spray time. 1/2 full is the sweet spot for me. I got a cheap, circa £26, digital bicycle rechargeable battery pump to give me pressure on the move. I do work on residential properties and find it a good compromise to speed up a pvc clean. An ionics constant flow unit is currently £450. My setup I estimate cost me around £60 quid tops. I already have a cleaning warehouse chemical dispenser with 1/4 bsp 110 deg sprayer jet as a future upgrade planned but I love spraying with 2 no 50 deg fan jets and instantly agitating the chemical and dirt with my flocked Gardiner brush. Great with degreaser on eggs. 🤫 Tip, if using with a pole setup use rectus 21 connections to allow moving easily between pole and lance. 5mm ID. If making a foamer try get the mixer aka stainless steel wire (or wire pipe cleaner) as close as possible to the standard non foaming nozzle delivery point. It helps to move the cleaner and water unmixed up the hose before mixing and delivering foam in my experiments.

Faulty and flimsy
The pressure release valve was faulty, (the canister hardly held any pressure), so it went straight back with a refund issued, (thank you Amazon). So… over the years I’ve tried a lot of these garden sprayers and they are all much of a muchness. I’ve even tried spending exorbitant amounts, but it makes little difference, (excluding professional backpacks and high pressure sprayers), they are all terrible and all suffer from the same faults, (high on my list would be the corrosion/rusting of the small internal spring that operates the wand’s trigger release). If one of these sprayers lasts more than one season it’s a miracle. Look on Amazon; there are dozens of these sprayers, all differently badged, but, no doubt, all being churned out by the same factory in China. All that plastic. All that waste, year in year out… All going to landfill. So does going with a reputable brand make any difference? Not one jot. In fact this one - with Spear & Jackson’s name attached - is one of the worst I’ve tried, (as mentioned, I’ve tried a lot!) the canister was robust, but the hose and wand no different to the cheapest models out there, and the pump and handle was downright flimsy, giving one absolutely zero confidence. Don’t buy. The brand name is meaningless. Buy cheaper and save your money, it will make no difference.

Not a quality product from Spear & Jackson
Whilst using the 8litre spray pump standing on a concrete patio, it toppled over and the brittle plastic pressure relief snapped off. Whilst it is not the manufacturer’s fault that the bottle toppled it is not an unexpected event and the product should be designed with more robust fittings. All the more reason therefore why you expect replacement parts, but this does not appear to be the case as Spear & Jackson do not provide replacement relief valves. We have to rely on “cheap” but expensive after-market products! Sadly, it is not as good a quality as the obsolete Killaspray that it replaced!

Impressed so bought another
Great so far, I initially bought the 8l version and found it was ideal for watering my flower troughs and baskets using the spray function but a bit heavy when full. I was still impressed how it makes life so much easier so I have now bought a 5l version to use for weed killer spray.

Good Unit
Great sprayer. Not too heavy and does a good job.

the spray wand/handle is too short.
The sprayer looks well made and probably offers good value for the money. I haven’t used it yet, so I can’t comment on durability or performance so far. However, I already noticed one significant downside — the spray wand/handle is too short. I am 183 cm tall, and I have to bend down quite a lot to spray weeds near my feet, which quickly becomes uncomfortable. A longer wand would make it much more practical and ergonomic to use.
