A Watch for Everyday and Almost Everything
I already own a similar G-Shock (now well over 20 years old) and it is still going strong on it's 3rd strap and (I think) 4th battery so this was not exactly an essential purchase, but for a 2 or 3 years now I have been promising myself one of these 'updated' versions.... so I finally 'hit the button' and bought one. It's a fabulous watch. Here's what I really like:1. Tough Solar: No worries about the battery. It arrived with the charge registering high and has stayed that way ever since without any special measures (e.g. leaving it on a sunny window ledge).2. The Radio Control: at around 2am each morning, the watch synchronises itself to a satellite time signal. This means it is accurate to the second, always. Like the solar power, this just works without any special measures. However should it miss the signal one morning you can also synchronise it manually. Even if you don't do that it will continue to work in the same way as a normal, accurate, quartz digital watch.3. Usual Casio Features: Decent Stopwatch and Countdown Timer, 5 Alarms and World Time.4. Good backlight: This can also be set to activate automatically when you raise you wrist and it is dark.5. Size: Thank goodness - just like my old one - this is quite a small and slim watch. I really don't like over-sized watches and this one is just the right size for me (approx. 7 inch wrist). It will disappear under a shirt cuff, no problem. It also weighs next to nothing.6. Looks: Very 1980s - reminiscent of the original 1983 DW5000 series. At a glance it looks the same with its red stripe and distinctive shape.7. Toughness: If it is anything like my old one (dating from 1998) it will be tough and can be worn for any task and still look fine when not at work.Any complaints? Nothing really. For well under £100 here is a watch which is a design classic, is as tough as they come, which is 100% accurate to the second, needs no battery maintenance, has a stopwatch, timer, alarm, and world time feature. If you only had to have one watch, this would be it.

Bought for military training, and has barely been off my wrist since.
I bought this watch in preparation for my basic military training with the air force as I was required to have a 'black digital watch'. Being into my watches I decided to spend a bit more money and go for one of these, and it's turned out to be a great decision.Unlike many of the other G-SHOCKS out there, this one retains much of the classic look of the originals seen in the 80's and 90's, but adds the latest tech. The standard features are present (stopwatch, timer, alarm etc.), but it also brings so much more. The radio controlled feature is something I have on many watches I own, but this is one of few that has never let me down. No matter where I am, or what I'm doing, I have complete confidence in this to have the correct time down to the second. The Auto-Light feature is also a love of mine. It's an extremely useful feature that allows me to quickly check the time, in the dark, without having to thumb around trying to find the right button. Importantly, it can also be turned off by holding down the illuminate button for a few seconds when tactical situations require. On top of all these, it's every bit as solid as you would expect from a G-SHOCK. So far, this watch has been running, swimming, snorkelling, rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, cave diving, gliding and been on my wrist while firing on exercise. It's taken plenty of bumps and hits on the way and it's still in excellent working condition and going strong. It's a fantastic piece of kit that will not let you down, and I couldn't recommend it enough.

Outstanding performance. Very comfortable.
This is much thinner than my previous chunky G-Shock, and is very comfortable to wear and doesn't snag on cuffs. The time and date display is very clear indeed, in all lighting conditions. The watch updates itself overnight whilst on my wrist without a hitch (I'm in the Midlands). The manual has very clear (but tiny!) instructions as per all Casio watches. This G-Shock also comes with a card stating how to get the watch up and running in seconds. The strap is long enough for a very large wrist up to 21cm (or as little as 13cm).Having used this watch for eight months I am particularly impressed with it. It has become my watch of choice. The strap is lasting well and is showing no signs of wear or tear. The crystal is still clean and scratch free. The watch has not missed an overnight update since I first started using it, so accuracy is not a problem. The self charging seems to be working well as the charge indicator has not shifted from maximum despite being worn indoors during this dullest of winters. The watch was delivered in a tough tin can - with the watch surrounded by soft grey spongey foam. The presentation case makes it ideal as a gift. The only gripe I have is with the lack of volume for the alarm - it is a little quiet. All in all though this is an OUTSTANDING watch. Tough, durable, lasting and working well. Brilliant.UPDATE - 18 months on - Watch is still keeping excellent time. Case and crystal still looking good. Strap in fine shape. Have recently purchased two genuine replacement straps from Casio for when the original strap eventually breaks. For info, the Module Number is 3063, and the manual may be downloaded from [...]
