Be patient
Update - 19/10/2025 Still using this (once at night now) started taking oral minoxidil about 5 months ago too. Iām happy with the outcome (2 new pictures added -front and back) and will continue on the journey, been using caffeine shampoo twice weekly and micro needling (0.5mm) every 10 days, not sure if all the things Iām doing is needed but itās not doing any harm. Iām in my early 40ās now but noticed that I was in a losing battle with my hair when I was in my early 30ās, I got my last haircut in a barbers when I was 33. My head looked like a lollipop that had been dropped on a dirty carpet so I decided just to bite the bullet, accept baldness and start shaving it off myself. Anyway - Iād heard of minoxidil (from watching the Simpsons) and had never given it much thought until 5 months ago when I started wondering what it would be like to have hair again so after some research I decided to give this a try. Does it work? I would say it definitely does work but itās not a quick fix and Iāve accepted that I will need to use this forever if I want to keep/have hair. I shaved my head regularly for the first 3 months of use then let it grow for the past 2 months with just a little trimming and the results are what you see on the pictures, first picture is 1 month of using this product (I shaved it off the next day) second picture is today 5 months after first use. I never thought this would work for me but I took a chance and itās definitely doing what itās supposed to. If you are considering giving this a try then please note that itās not cheap and you will have to use this for life, Iām yet to decide if itās all worthwhile but for now Iām happy with the results and I plan my first trip to the barbers next month for the first time in 10 years. FYI- I use as directed on the leaflet 1/2 (half) cap twice per day starting at the crown and massaging onto the scalp on the areas needed, it says on the leaflet it does not work at the templeās but Iāve noticed a great improvement around that area. Ps: after 3 months of using this product and after a lot of research I started using finasteride too, Iāve had no side effects from either product but if you are considering using finasteride I would suggest that you research thoroughly and read all possible side effects and decide if you are willing to take the chance. Hopefully this review will help even one person decide either way if they want to go ahead and try this stuff or decide against. Good luck on the journey.

Game changer for me
I've been using Regaine for a few months now, and I'm seeing results!Hair's growing back thicker, and my confidence is through the roof. The foam's easy to apply, and it's not greasy at all. Was a bit sceptical at first, but this stuff works! If you're struggling with hair loss, give it a go - worth every penny.

Whether it works depends on the cause of your hair loss
I'm a woman in my late 30s who's been losing hair due to a combination of stress, PCOS, and malabsorption for over a decade. It wasn't until the last year or so that I realised my hairline was severely receding. My temples were completely bare and my front hair line had been pushed back significantly, making my already large forehead look even bigger. I'm not a particularly vain person, but I was distressed. I was used to having bald patches on the back of my head that were covered by my waist length hair, but losing hair around my face was new. I looked into the various hair loss treatments, deciding the medication from the doctor had far too many side effects, and the shampoo didn't have nearly enough evidence that it actually worked, and so settled on the over the counter foam. If it didn't work then I'd only wasted 40 quid, and if it did, I could easily justify the price going forwards. It's no more than a coffee a week, if that. Incredibly, the "for women" version is twice the price for half the product, despite having identical ingredients now that they offer the same percentage of minoxidil. They suggest that men use the product twice a day, and women once, so I bought the "for men" for a much better deal and applied it once a day. When they say you'll lose hair when you start treatment, they mean it. But it is hair that you would have lost anyway, as part of the natural hair growth cycle, you're just losing it sooner. All of the hairs that I lost were very thin and weak compared to the rest still in my head. I didn't lose any thick hairs, or chunks, or start balding where I'd applied the product (on my temples and across the front of my hair line, where my hair loss was showing, even though there were many claims that this specific placement wouldn't work). I didn't have any topical reaction to the foam at all, except maybe some slight itching, but that could have been my imagination or even just the summer heat. I just lost the weak hairs that were going to fall out anyway, all at once, over the course of a couple of days. And then nothing. Within about a week of use, I could feel fluff on the previously completely smooth areas I'd been applying the product. Once nightly, although I definitely missed a few days here and there over the longer term. The foam itself dissolves quite quickly on the hand and I was finding it difficult to get it onto my head before it turned to liquid, which then ran down my face, so I started spraying it directly onto my head at one temple and spreading it across the top of my forehead to the other temple before rubbing it all in. Very sloppy, highly unattractive, but it worked for me. I made sure to massage the foam/liquid in to my problem areas until it had been absorbed, just like a moisturiser. Any that dripped down my face just got wiped up as I was washing my hands afterwards. It wasn't a big deal or difficult in any way. I managed to get my hair pretty damp when I was first figuring it out, but it dried down quickly and didn't leave any residue or need washing again or anything. I pretty much halved the amount they suggested using so that it stopped running down my face and didn't see any negative impact. Maybe a month after starting, I was losing one or two hairs every few days. Nothing at all compared to the brush full I'd have to pull off after brushing, or the massive amounts that would actually block the drain when I washed it. I switched to a Tangle Teezer as they're supposed to be more gentle, and carried on my haphazard application every day (or so) until last month, which was the 3 month mark. At this point I hadn't even finished the first of 3 bottles. That happened at 4 months, a few days ago. My hair has always grown fast, but I now have 3-ish inches of brand new growth around both temples and along my front hair line. I look like I'm growing in a rather pathetic fringe. There are still areas on my temples that haven't taken to the treatment and the hair is definitely not as dense as the rest of my head, but given the placement and the fact that I'm fair anyway, I feel like this is normal. I'm now applying the foam once every 3 or 4 days just to maintain what's there and have been doing this for a month so far without any hair loss as a result, although I'd not like to try and go without and have to start again. I've read a lot of people say that their growth started falling out within a week of stopping and complete loss occurred within a couple of months. Just the stuff they grew because of the foam, not their whole heads, this will not make you bald if you're not bald to start with. I've also noticed thickening on my head in areas where I haven't applied the foam, like at the back of my head where I do have thinning and patches but it can't be seen unless my hair is tied up tightly, and along my parting. I assume this is because the drug has entered my blood stream, but I haven't noticed growth anywhere else on my body increasing at all. I wouldn't say I'm a changed woman or that my hair loss has been completely reversed, but there is a very obvious and significant difference in pictures from July and November that I can only attribute to using this product. I had no expectations going in, but knew that if it did work, I'd need to keep using it. I don't see it as any different to taking a prescription medication, except instead of stopping a heart attack or diabetic attack, this stops hair loss. I still have 2 bottles left, and at the rate I go through it, they should last me until this time next year. I'd definitely give it a try if you're curious. A taxi home after a night out will cost you more, and you might end up surprised by the results. And if it doesn't work, there are options from your GP or even transplants if it comes to that. It's not going to work for everyone, but that's normal as we aren't all losing hair for the same reason.

Not enough people are aware of the side effects
When I say "not enough people", I am including myself within this group. When I bought this product it was somewhat of an impulse purchase. I was losing my hair, and I was panicking about it. I knew If I did nothing about the hair loss, the situation wouldn't improve, so I turned to the internet to research potential products. I initially stayed away from Regaine, due to the price and inconvenience. Presuming each bottle lasts a month it will be costing over £160 per year, which in my opinion is a lot to be spending on hair loss products. It's inconvenient in that it should be applied twice a day, but in all honesty it doesn't take much time. So instead, I started off simple, and cheap- with caffeine shampoos. Hoping that they would do something to slow the hair loss. I can confirm they did nothing of the sort. A completely useless product to treat hair loss. So much so that I believe Alpecin (a popular producer of caffeine shampoo), have recently been banned from saying that their product can reduce hair loss. I believe they can help thicken the hair, and perhaps make the hair stronger, which in itself makes them a better option than your regular supermarket shampoos. However, in terms of hair loss- nothing. I was losing my hair at a greater rate than ever now. It was then that I decided to turn to Regaine. As I said, it was somewhat of an impulse purchase. I was losing my hair, and Regaine is supposedly one of the most effective hair loss treatments. I put the price and inconvenience aside, and without doing much further research, I decided to purchase it. What could go wrong? Well as it turns out- a lot. A couple of days after using it I started to notice myself losing more hair than usual while in the shower, but initially I thought nothing of it. After all, it does state in the product information (although very unclearly) that hair loss may temporarily increase as the hairs are making way for "new, thicker hairs!". So I thought nothing of it, and stuck with it until a few days later when once again I lost a lot of hairs in the shower- even more than usual. My hairline looked visibly worse than it did before starting Regaine. Considering the reason I started using Regaine was to improve my hair loss situation, these were very worrying signs as Regaine was making my hair loss worse rather than better. With that in mind, I decided to further research into the product and discovered that this initial shed of hair is very common and in some cases can be very bad, which really isn't made clear by the manufacturer. I also found out that Regaine doesn't actually help hair loss as it does nothing to block DHT (as finasteride does), rather it regrows temporary hairs in the areas which it was applied. Unfortunately, all these hairs will be lost within months of using Minoxidil, essentially making this a life long commitment. If you want to keep the "regrown" hairs, you will have to buy this product every month and apply it twice a day for the rest of your life. This creates further issues in that Regaine is often said to stop working within 5 years of use. After this research I decided to stop using immediately. This was after just 5 days of applying it once/twice a day. I decided that it would be better to stop using it as soon as possible. And then...came further problems. After I stopped using it, I started losing hair at even greater rate (much more than before I began using Regaine). I also developed a very itchy scalp, which was something I've never suffered from previously. And this itchy scalp still remains a month after I've stopped using the product. So just over a month after using Minoxidil, my hairline is in a much worse position and I have an almost constant itch. It is crazy to think of all the negative consequences after using this product for just 5 DAYS. In conclusion, I would not recommend this product to anyone. That is unless you're fully committed to using this product every day, for the rest of your life. And are willing to accept that your hair will get worse before it gets better...along with the possible negative health consequences. What I do recommend, is to work on improving your health, diet, try to relieve yourself from stress and make sure you're getting enough sleep. These are all things that can accelerate the hair loss process. It's important to not panic- hair loss is inevitable for most men and without hair transplants and more advanced (and expensive) treatments, is irreversible. Accept you're losing your hair and do your best to slow the process. Don't turn to falsified products such as Regaine. Products I do recommend are Nizoral and Regenepure shampoos, both of these I believe have minimally helped with my hair loss, and I haven't experienced any negative side effects from using them. Just make sure to condition every time you shampoo, because they can dry out your hair. Good luck on your hair loss endeavour.

Wish I started earlier!
Started using Regain(foam form) because I was afraid of getting bald. Hair loss especially for women is kind of the end of the world. Very uneasy feeling. It is been a year and I wish I started using it earlier, but like most of us, I needed to do my own research. So after about few months of reading reviews, talking to people who also use Regain I gave it a go and will never look back. Yes it is a long life commitment, but so is brushing your teeth š I use it once a day. I donāt touch it with my bare hands. I do use a wooden stick and a little pot so I know how much itās being used every day instead of just spraying it on my hair and massaging it with my hands. I also massage my scalp before applying. DHT blocker for me is pumpkin seed oil capsules. I do have cats at home and dogs, but after applying it I donāt let them near my scalp until it dries out. It has been a year and none of my pets ācomplainedāš Apparently it is toxic to cats š¤·š»āāļø Side affects will be.. extra beard 𤣠Not kidding!

Does it work? (12 Month Review)
(full 12 month review) Iām 18 and was stuffing hereditary hair loss on my hairline (mostly on the temples) and after trying a number of different things to try and stimulate hair growth I was having no luck, so decided to turn to Regaine as a last resort and itās the best decision I made. Like it says twice a day use, and it takes 8 - 10 weeks before you notice any improvement so itās about being patient, but worth it for the outcome. I would recommend regain for anyone thatās balding or thinning or has really fine hair. Pictures are before and after taken at 7 weeks into using Regain Foam Updating my review to show you the outcome after 4 months. Itās a slow process but gradually does work at regrowing hair as you can see in the new photos uploaded. 8 month update: very slow process but still shows signs of progress since starting the product - will keep uploading pictures throughout my year long trial for those looking to start this product. This is my 10 month update of using Regaine Foam, results are slow but promising, I use this as often as 3/4 times a day, although this is a timely process the main aim is patience as is takes around 12 - 18 months to fully restore to full and thick new hairs. To help amplify your hair growth results you could also use caffine and biotin shampoos alongside regaine, I find a shampoo branded āgrow meā is effective as it has DHT blockers which is the main cause of baldness, it helps keep blood flow to your scalp, you could also turn to Biotin tablets, this isnāt harmful as itās simply a vitamin. 12 month update - Iāve been using regain for a whole year and the results arenāt as good as I was hoping, hair growth has improved but not by much, use at your discretion.

Works
So the first photo is me in April 2020 and the 2nd photo is my in June 2022. As you can see Regaine has worked wonders for me. It wasn't an initial success and thankfully I didn't experience any side effects, at no point did any of my hair fall out first. My hair regrowth was just a slow process but now I've actually forgotten how bad my hair was until I just now looked at my old photo. Took about 6 months before I personally noticed a change, though at about the 3 month stage people were telling me my hair was looking better. The bottle recommends using it twice a day and using the cap to measure the amount. Realistically with my lifestyle I knew that wasn't going to happen. I used the cap method intially at the start but figured out a much better method. What I do it apply about 1 cap amount, directly from the bottle to my weak hair areas. This is WAY easier than filling the cap, putting in on your hands and then trying to apply to certain areas. Monday to Friday, I have a shower, towel dry my hair a bit, and whilst my hair is still a bit damp, that's when I apply the foam directly to me scalp. Regaine actually acts like kind of a mousse and gives your hair a certain stylish texture to it, which I like. As I'm rarely at home for weekends I don't usually apply it as I can't be bothered to travel with my Regaine. And as you can see it works fine if you use it 5 consistent days a week. Don't become obsessed with your regaine. If you go away on holiday and it's hand luggage only, your hair will be fine, it won't fall out, you can leave the bottle at home. Check-in luggage? Sure take it with you. Cost wise bottle of Regaine wildy fluctuate. And I mean wildly. Some days I've see it hit 90 quid and then 2 days later it's down to 31. In the last week only I've seen it hit 87 and 32! What I would advise is keep an eye on the pricing and when it goes under 33, buy a years supply. Then when you're down to 3 months supply, again keep an eye on the pricing. Overall it's a fantastic product if you use it 5 days a week. If you're on the fence about using this product give it a try for 6 months, you won't be sorry.
