Amazing book - every kid and every school should have this
The media could not be loaded. Transformative.Sometimes kids don’t know what bullying is, ie if your friend speaks to you one day and ignores you the next that is a form of bullying.Gives great ideas for things to say, beautifully explained for children on how to stand up for yourself and others. Not too long and not too short, perfect!

Excellent, really reached my 10 year old daughter
I bought this book for my 10 year old daughter who is having trouble with a friend of hers. Her friend over the years has become very controlling which in a way has turned into bullying. This book has shown my daughter that bullies come in all shapes and sizes and that it is not ok to be treated the way she has been. I have told my daughter this but seeing it for herself and reading other experiences has hit home and empowered her. I heard her comments when reading the book, 'I'll have to try that' 'that sounds like what's happening to me'. This reached her when I think I didn't. Brilliant and easy to read, she read it in a couple of hours and refers back to itWould highly recommend for both those who are being bullied and those who are bullies,

Excellent Advice
I can't rate this book highly enough. It has been fantastic for my 11 year old daughter who was being bullied at school. It has given her the confidence to realise that being bullied is never the victims fault and that other girls are going through exactly the same problems. It has also taught her that she does have options whether its doing your best to ignore the other girls behaviour, standing up for yourself using body language as well as verbally and finally when to involve an adult. We read a few pages together every night, my daughter particularly enjoys the quizzes and real life examples. It is very thought provoking and has lead to us having lots of discussions. It also has suggestions for what to say when girls are being mean without being mean back. We also read this book in conjunction with "Friendship Troubles", which is in the same range of books, and I would also recommend.

Great books for 8 to 10 year olds
I've bought a few of these 'Smart Girl' books for my middle daughter aged 9. My eldest (11years) has read them too but agreed that whilst useful they are a bit young for her. Although these books are American don't let that put you off; they are not saccharine but gently straight talking with solid advice to help young girls think about and deal with everyday concerns. They are great for a girl to read alone, do the quizzes or to share together and open up discussion. This particular book focuses on getting along with everyone and tackling bullies.

Which it was for girls and boys
This book is best book I have found if only it was written for boys and girls. I have used all advice with my son but not been able to show him book as he would say it is for girls.

Love this book
Love this book, perfect for pre-teens and teenagers alike. The book has great appeal with practical, relevant information being easily lifted from it's pages. You can dip in and out and take from the chapters that currently interest you, and with accompanying graphics, has great visual appeal. This book gives wholly practical current situation dealing advice that best of all "really does work". Perfect book and a must read for every young person in big and little schools.

Brilliant book with practical ideas
This book is brilliant. It gives lots of practical ideas for how to cope with those tricky characters and the section about standing up for your friends is really inspiring too. My daughters both found it interesting and useful.

Engaging and Helpful
My daughter is in grade 1 and we’re starting to deal with relational aggression. We really enjoyed reading this book together (she’s very advanced for reading - most kids in grade 1 won’t be able to read this on their own).I like that it presents multiple ways to deal with bullying - acknowledging that there is no one way that will work all the time. And I like that it encourages kids to stand up for themselves but also to seek help. It gives concrete examples of things to say in several situations - and it has some activities too.I’ve found my daughter looking through the book on her own too.Her only complaint was “why is it only referring to girls” so I explained that it was a book written specifically for girls. I think the content would be great for boys too - hopefully there are similar books out there for boys too.

Informative book that the kids enjoyed reading
This book was a great conversation starter for my kids. They loved reading it and it was informative without being overwhelming. I like the quizzes to assess which style of communication you tend towards, and the suggested wording that could be used to stand up for yourself or others assertively but not aggressively. Great book!

Fantastic book to help with bullying and standing up for yourself
My daughter is 7 and this book is amazing. The book is very well written and very rateable. The scenarios are also great to help her understand each part of the book. It even helped me to refresh my knowledge on bullying and how to help her. Highly recommend. Will definitely get more books in this series.
