When first applied it tends to smell like TCP/disinfectant. But once it settles it does have a 'new car scent'. In 2025 I am still using it in my car and I love it. It lasts for ages. I spray it under the front seats and it banishes other odours for weeks

I recently purchased this New Car Scent Air Freshener, and after hearing a lot about the company and the quality of their products, I was excited to try it. Given the premium price, I expected a high-quality experience, and I wanted to give the chemical guys brand a chance.I seen mixed reviews online, with some people commenting that the scent is more like plastic or medicine, while others mention it smells like a new car and the best they’ve used. I’ve also seen some videos online about how great this product is. Which was why I thought to give it a try.Given my experience, I found the product to be quite different from what I expected and heard about.Unfortunately, I have to say I was quite disappointed. The scent does not resemble the fresh, new car smell I was anticipating, when I first smelt it I was confused, I thought maybe the smell would change or there must be a mistake in what I ordered.., it has a very antiseptic, dentist like smell, which is quite off-putting. I only sprayed a small amount on the floor mat. I even gave it several hours to see if the scent would change, but it still reminded me of the smell I experienced during a root canal treatment, which was not what I had hoped for.. I have had better air fresheners for a fraction of the priceI had high expectations based on the reputation of the company, but unfortunately, this product did not meet them.

It’s definitely not what I describe as new car smell I.E it’s not the same smell that was in when I purchased the car. There’s a strong plastic and chemical smell instead, but it’s not a bad smell.DO NOT spray a stream of it into a carpet mat, it leaves a stain but is easy cleaned with a damp cloth. To use I popped the cars AC and circulation on, sprayed a bunch of it on the rear mats and into the passenger footwell and turned the fan on high. Left it sitting for 5 minutes and topped it up later on in the evening. Yes not good for the environment but good for my happiness on the way to work. Going to do this once a week to build it in and then maintain there after!Still hunting for the real new car smell.

I had my car cleaned and the mats were left damp. This caused a stale smell to develop. I cleaned my car again and thoroughly dried the mats. The smell had left the mats but remained in the car. I sprayed a small amount onto the passenger side mat and set the air con as instructed. Three weeks later and my car STILL smells like new from that initial application.Only a small amount is needed. My suggestion would be to use a very small amount, if you don't notice much difference, use a little more. You shouldn't need much and it should last a good while.

I purchased this scent recently.I bought a used car and wasn't happy about the interior smell. Not bad, just not my cup of tea.Usually my preference for car smells is cotton or freshly cleaned fabric.I have mixed filling about it. It's not a bad smell but not quite a new car smell either.In my opinion it's smells like a cheap plastic toy just after applied, if you let it air out a little it's leaving a nice smell of plastic.I noticed some people talking about a leather smell as well when applied. I can't confirm or deny because I recently did some cleaning and moisturising of my leather seats using Autoglym products and they have really strong new leather smell.Seats treatment and this air refreshener combined actually give a pleasant effect but leather smell is much stronger and honestly I prefer it this way.I'm happy how my car smells right now.I will try it out on my father's car. He is a smoker and he often carries his dog around and see how this works. I will also try to ask my friends what they think about it.I will update the review later. + long term useLong term update:Some of my friend think my car smells like dentist's. I kind of get their point. I'm doing two sprays every two to three weeks and I'm pretty happy with result.Still haven't tested it on my dads car.Do what the Chemical Guys say and don't spray too much otherwise you might by unhappy with the result. Suttle is the way to go I think.

Had high hopes with this product after watching numerous positive reviews online. However, upon trying it I found that the smell couldn’t be further from ”new car smell”.It just had a horrible chemical type smell that I don’t recognise and it made my car smell awful.Unfortunately I paid the extra postage to have this delivered next day, and now I am left with a totally useless product.I would not recommend this product to anyone and suggest you save your money and look elsewhere.

Great product chemical guys smell lovely

Strong and effective air freshener , use only a very small amount !!! Very good value will likely last years - however , if my new car smelt like this product when I collected it I would take it back - more kitchen cleaner type smell . A good deodoriser and not unpleasant but slightly disappointed as expected new car smell and it is not.
