Conté à Paris Studio Sketching Pencil and Carre Crayon - Assorted Colours

A good all round set. Pencils are quite hard but adequate, useful colours. I have a koh-i noor white charcoal pencil that is softer and a single softer black conte which I find more useful but the sepia is a great colour. Would have been useful to have the contents visible to the eye. No issues with the seller.

Haven't used Conte blocks since art college (the buts I have left are in the second photo!) but wanted to go back to basics with a few Conte sketches.Conte are a compound of charcoal, graphite and clay and so very different to any of these single media.I made a couple if sketches with what I had and decided to purchase new. These arrived swiftly but, as you can see, inadequately packaged and broken. My suspicion is that if the blocks are broken so cleanly, then so will the core of the pencils.Looks like the package has been bent or dropped. Better packaging required.But, I would urge anyone wanting to try portrait drawing to consider Conte blocks/pencils as they are a satisfying alternative to the single media.

I should know better than ordering arts supplies from Amazon but this set was enticingly priced and I went ahead and bought it. As expected three of the crayons were broken and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s why they were discounted in the first place: someone flogging defective supplies the ones you can’t sell in a reputable shop. I own a few of these crayons already and they’re not as fragile as to be necessarily damaged during delivery.

An interesting little set. Mine arrived whole (I.e. no broken conte sticks) and I will probably keep them in the plastic bottom and clear cover for the foreseeable. It would’ve been nice to have a proper case/tin but I expect this would drive the price up. I wouldn’t but this at full RRP.The pencils are softer than I would have expected but this is a pleasant surprise and will work well.I have never used conte crayons/pastels either so it took me a few squiggles to get the how was best to use for creamy colour.I am happy with my purchase and I’m excited to use in a new project

Some of the chalks survived but all of the pencils were useless as they were broken all the way down.Not really good enough.

These arrived in perfect condition, I cant wait to use them.

My overall experience with this product is very poor since they arrieved broken and not usable to their full potential
