This is a bulky item to store, but it's very simple to use. You stick the tube into the radiator, squeeze the bulb to suck some water up, and the number of discs which rise tell you what temperature your car is ready to handle. Simple.A couple of caveats. First, it only works with traditional glycol based antifreeze — it's not use for today's more advanced, specialist formulae. Second, because it works on specific gravity, it can be confused by the presence of other things, like Radweld, which aren't anti-freeze. It isn't especially accurate, but, then, you don't really need it to be.

Does the job

Returned as it leaks at the top bit where the ballon attach to the transparent plastic tube. Hope this is just a faulty item but it means I have to get another one for the job.

The idea was sound but the parts are badly assembled. The tester leaks air in so quickly and the antifreeze runs out if the tube so fast that you can not read the strength. Just as other buyers suggested, I resealed both ends of the tester with silicon sealer, making a more air tight seal. This improved the tester so much that it held the antifreeze long enough that I could read how strong the liquid was. A pity that this alteration was needed, but it made it useable and meant I could get by without going through the return process. If this is good enough for you then buy it. If not then but something that works, straight out of the box.

I found this a very useful and easy to use product (although the lack of instructions is a daft oversight). Basically, you squeeze the pump, place the tube into your radiator, release the pump, which then sucks up radiator fluid into the measuring chamber; then hold the device vertically and the number of balls that rise shows how much ante-freeze protection is in your radiator (the balls corresponding to temperature readings marked on the device). It’s very useful if you’ve just purchased a car or motorbike and are unsure how much ante-freeze (if any) is in there; saves having to bleed the system and fill it from scratch.

Tout est dans le titre !Après le changement de la pompe à eau il fallait que je sache si on avait mis assez d antigel d ou cet achat qui fonctionne très bien et est facile à utiliser et à ce prix faut pas s en priver car vraiement utile

Cumple con su función, por lo tanto para mí tiene las 5 estrellas. Fácil de usar. Sólo hay que ir contando las fichas que flotan. Lo ideal es que floten 5 y la naranja nunca suba.

Der Geruch beim Auspacken des Frostschutzprüfers hat mich persönlich spontan an eine Giftmülldeponie errinnert...Die Funktion als Frostschutzprüfer habe ich nicht ausprobiert. Diesen Artikel habe ich sofort zurückgeschickt.Ich werde diesen Frostschutzprüfer von Silverline Tools definitiv nicht weiterempfehlen!
