StarTech USB-A to HDMI Converter, 1080p 60Hz, Driver Required, Windows

It's expensive but works - so worth it to me!! I got a cheaper one that didn't work. I wasn't sure if it would work on USB that wasn't 3.0 (ie not the blue ones) - but really pleased that it does. My work computer and home computer only had the one hdmi port plus USB. Only scored a 4 for gaming as I don't game so can't say. Scored 4 for value because it is a lot for a an adaptor (paid less than £10 for other ones in the past), but not found any other USB to hdmi ones that work. It was plug and play for me - Recomended 100%

I'm shortly about to change my PC as it won't support Windows 11, conversely being a top of the line unit back in the day it is still pretty usable now. It supports 2 monitors natively but I needed a third. Enter this unit which allowed to do that in seconds. I have written a dissertation and now ordered a new PC. This is a handy unit to have, though. As long as you install the drivers from the website BEFORE plugging it in, I was up and running in seconds.

Careful because the Hakdsy doesn't work properly and overheats and dies quickly. It also doesn't show anything on your monitors. The 2nd one I ordered was the same but under a different name. Finally, I bought the Startech instead. Finally I have one which actually works and does exactly what I need it to. Be careful to install the drivers first before using it as on the carboard piece which sits over the usb port. I've no idea what happens if you plug it in first, but they advise strongly against doing so. Refresh rate and picture quality are superb. The device itself is also sleek and fits your other cables in an attractive way. The only thing I don't like about this device is the price - £40 is pushing it for a simple adapter.

Excellent! Plugged it into Win11 system, and it just worked. No driver installation needed. It was also fine with the fact that my 2nd monitor is in portrait orientation. (This is much better than the generic unbranded device I tried before, which wouldn't work in portrait mode, despite the resolution being in spec, and which required a driver to do anything.)

Worked straight away with my HP laptop!

This is very easy to install (so long as you follow the setup procedure and download the latest drivers). Bought this as the HDMI port on my Dell gave up. I had tried other USB to HDMI drivers and they had been of limited use. This gives 1920 x 1080 video nice and clearly. Only just bought this so can't tell how long it will last, but it appears well put together. All in all great value for mony.

Works well: Bought to add an extra display on a new HP pavillion laptop. Laptop had one HDMI and a USB-C that didn't support display output. Did some research and this Startech device looked suitable. Unboxed and downloaded the drivers utility from the website as per the instructions in the box. Rebooted connected the device to the laptop and second monitor and it worked straight away. Does exactly what it's supposed to.

Incredible that this works! Minor issue is that it sits a little lose in the USB port which temporarily makes it lose connection if I bump it. I angled the computer away from me to avoid touching it.

Je l'ai acheté pour ajouter un troisième écran à mon ordinateur portable et j'avais un peu peur de rencontrer des problèmes de compatibilité. Au final, tout a fonctionné immédiatement et j'ai pu utiliser mon triple écran en quelques minutes. Très satisfait de cet achat. Si vous cherchez une solution simple pour ajouter un écran supplémentaire, je le recommande.

I recently upgraded to this StarTech adapter after a frustrating experience with a cheaper, no-name version that caused heavy lag on my second monitor. The difference is incredible, there is absolutely no sign of delay or stuttering now. It feels like a direct connection, and the build quality is noticeably superior. If you're setting up dual monitors for your laptop, save yourself the trouble and skip the generic brands. This one works perfectly right out of the box and is well worth the extra investment for the performance it provides.

Laptop only had 1 hdmi port and multiple USB 3.0 ports. I have two monitors, first one I used hdmi to hdmi and the second worked instantly with this adapter. Very happy with this cheap solution.
