Natures Market BF007S Seed Feeder with Squirrel Guard

This appears to be sturdy and designed to keep the squirrels out. The lid has a small latch like many others. The squirrels frequently chew these open. Would be better if a tighter fit. I use a metal shackle to lock it down. I also shackle the top to a metal ring on the shed otherwise the squirrels knock them onto the ground where they often break into them. This is good value for money and easy to spot at the bottom of the garden due to its bright yellow colour. The seed container is large and dispenses well. The wild birds have visited a few times already. Very similar to other brands but significantly cheaper to buy.

The birds don’t like the colour so I’m going to paint it green.

I bought this not for squirrels but to keep the bigger birds from fighting the tits and robins an chasing them away. Works a treat as the blackbirds, rooks and wood pigeons can't steal from the small ones or get into the seed container. In my garden the blackbirds like to throw themselves against my other hanging feeders to spill the seeds all over the ground but this has so strong a handle, I can rest this on a branch to stop the swinging. My review is based on this - and not on squirrel proofing.Update: I have two of these now, one in bright yellow (bought 2015) and a newer one bought early 2017 which is in a more pleasing mustard yellow and blends better into the foliage.

It was great until the squirrels discovered it. They just lifted the lid and ate from there. They then destroyed the inner tube to get the lower contents.

It is very strong and doing its job as far as squirrel is concerned, but birds are not so happy with it, most of them are terrified and will not even land on the bird table which it is hung from, I think it should be painted green as it is the yellow colour that is putting them off. Most bird products for the garden are green and nothing has worried the birds so long before, have only about 2-3 brave birds using it very occasionally at the moment so I am thinking about painting it green. Postage was very quick on this item and would recommend it, but it would be better if it was green.

I can only imagine that it is the colour that puts the birds off as I feed them all the time. They go to the other feeder all the time but not this one.Wouldnt buy a coloured one again.

Took the squirrels one day to work out how to open the clip on the top giving them access to all the seeds that they could reach and letting the rain in to destroy the remaining three quarters of the seeds in the feeder.

Bright this as the squirrels broke the plastic one and this one is great for the small birds and squirrels can’t ruin it.
