Q: Can this thermometer be used for tempering chocolate?

No. The minimum temperature is 40 degrees which is too hot for the ideal tempering (31 - 33) and if it gets over 46 before you notice, or even the thermometer catches up, the whole batch is totally ruined. You also have no way to know if it's over 31 degrees - below that, and it also won't set properly and with gloss and snap. Those saying "it'll be fine" are assuming candy and jam follow the same rules as chocolate - and clearly don't cook with chocolate much, either, or they'd know how easy it is to burn.

Q: can this thermometer be used for making btter tablet ?

This thermometer can certainly be used to make fudge or tablet.

I think you mean the temperature in fahrenheit not Celsius. The temp for toffee is 140deg C which is 285deg F. So this thermometer is fine.

Q: Can the thermometer be used on an induction hob?

In theory, yes, as you would put it into whatever liquid you are cooking, rather than on the actual hob, however, make sure you also read some of the other recent reviews, as there are several customers (myself included) who have received a faulty thermometer that was out by at least 10 degrees Celsius. I tested mine (after it had ruined the jam) in boiling water, and it never went above 90 degrees Celsius.
