What size is the oilstone please?

The stone is 8ins x 2ins x 1inch

Can any kind of oil be used with the stone supplied with this? If so, what?

Oilstones are basically an American invention. They were designed for use with what the UK calls paraffin, in order to wash the dirt off and keep the surface sharp. If you use any form of lubricating oil, the stone quickly clogs and stops working.

Can I use a hammer with this set?

Hi Jimbo these are quality chrome vanadium and do not have a striking dome. they are for woodworking chisels and you can use a wooden or rubber mallet. if you need to use a striking hammer b&q do a set with metal domes but you would probably need to sharpen them more often. hope this helps 4036johnm
