Amazon Basics 256 GB, USB 3.1 Flash Drive, Read Speed up to 130 MB/s, Black

This is a handy little flash drive with plenty of capacity and at a reasonable price.The drive is available in two capacities - 128Gb and 256Gb. I got the larger size as I had a number of big files that needed to be moved around and a flash drive was by far the easiest option to complete this task.It is a USB 3.1 flash drive so you will need free USB-A style port free to plug the drive into. If you only have a spare USB-C port then you would also need a USB-A to USB-C adapter.Transferring files onto the drive is quite slow, which is expected with most USB 3.1 flash drives, but with that said this Amazon Basics drive outperformed one of the big brands of external storage devices in a quick test I performed - which surprised me as the big brand was quite a bit more expensive. The read speeds are much faster than write, which is to be expected and I was getting 150MB/s read speeds.During long write activities the drive does warm up a little, but nothing to be concerned about.The USB connector on the drive can be retracted within the case of the drive to protect it from damage and this is a very useful if you transfer the drive around.Additionally there is a little loop at the end of the drive which is a handy feature if you need to carry the drive around as you can clip it onto a lanyard or key chain.

Works a treat, no issues at all, and a great price

This product has proven to be quite useful in situations where relying on cloud storage isn't practical for me at the moment. I used it to transfer a number of 4K family videos and a large collection of photos to share with my relatives. It handled the task efficiently without any issues. The file reading speed is consistent when managing data, and the fact that I could simply plug it in without any complicated setup was definitely a benefit. The build feels robust, and the retractable feature prevents the irritation of damaged USB ports while it's stored in my drawer.That said, it isn’t without its flaws. While the speed is sufficient for most tasks, it certainly doesn't break any records. A notable drawback is the absence of a USB-C option, which is becoming increasingly common in similar products. However, it functions well as a backup storage solution or for transferring files. Additionally, the inclusion of a loop is a thoughtful touch, as it helps prevent it from getting lost amidst the clutter of my desk.

Great Value Memory drives , I'm using them for converting vinyl to mp3 . Cheap good value access to external memory . Not too small to be lost , high speed transfer , black with retractable connectors.

Needed a quality flash drive with good storage size & this has ticked all the boxes. Great slide motion to push out the USB connector & return it to keep it safe. Good speed transfer on my laptop, this is a great purchase would highly recommend.

Only four 🌟 for now as it was just delivered. So far so good. I managed to move a few files off my cloud onto it. That’s the main purpose of my purchase. Microsoft wants me to buy more storage and I’m tired of being forced to spend more money that way. So I managed to move some items and now it stopped telling me that I won’t be access emails, etc.I chose this particular USB based on excellent reviews. Size of the storage and price. I had to fiddle to open it but that might be due to my hit and miss approach to technology. Delivery was swift, item well packaged and seems well built ( strong, etc).All in all very pleased with my choice and I highly recommend.
