Nice and sturdy, terrified the pup though :-) She'll get used to them, older dog is having fun
I bought these as my year old rescue pup from hungary is slowly getting toilet trained, but if i don't see her at the door its too late. I thought she could alert me with these.I didn't get her til she was seven months old, she was born on the street, rescued with mum and siblings, but had no training at all until she came to me. Puppy pads in all the usual places she goes helped, and summer was fine, door open all day, but now its cooler and door closed I need something for her to alert me. Preferasbly saving me from her finding somehwere like my bed to pee....or my rug to mess on!These looked perfect, they arrived and I hung on door. Called dogs ( i also have a seven year old dog) and showed them the bell, hoping one would knock them and I'd reward and open door. Well the older dog Roxy finally knocked them in her excitment ( life is a game to her, everything is exciting, and means she needs to run round and turn circles madly). Jingle Jingle, and one pup hurtles at speed into their cage, her sanctuary, cowering at the back. Took ages to persuade her out, and for the next few times the bells rang she did the same, but I opened door wide so she had space to pass the scary objects ( doorways are another issue of hers, we've only just cracked that she can go through if they;re only part open). I tell the older dog each time to ring the bell, treat her, then open door. I'm hoping finally the pup will make the connection and ring when she wants to go out.Surprisigly we've progress in other ways, from just wandering back and forth by the door silently, she has twice now given a low growl. clearly she prefers that to the scary bells ;-)They are a good idea, and i feel she will get there but as with everything else, her background, those scary early days, mean it'll take a bit of time and patience.

Fabulous Sleigh Bells and also good for pets :o)
I love the idea of these bells. We have a dog and two cats, and no cat/dog flap (mainly because half-dead 'presents' would be brought in by our loving kitties), so the idea of each of them having a way to let us know they'd like out is a good one. We'll get round to training the dog. Honest. As for the cats, they're not so sure, but they're 9 and set in their ways and generally believe anything we do is a plot to kill them.A couple of maybe useful points:We found that hanging the bells on the door handle wasn't convenient. It scared those scaredy cats, particularly as one can open the door herself by hanging off the door handle. And it confused Granny when she came to visit and caused sleigh* bells to ring loudly by innocently trying to unlock the door, waking all the sleeping teenagers. Anyway, we resolved this by using a wee window sucker thing on the glass panel next to the door and hanging the bells from there instead.*These do make excellent sleigh bells. Ok, I haven't tried them on an actual sleigh, but they sound incredibly sleigh-like should you be looking for such a thing :o)If I can persuade the cats to be less scaredy and train the dog, then I'd have one for outside the door as well. It'd mean we could close the door when the dog's outside and not cause ourselves to freeze waiting for her to come back in (of course she does think she's been abandoned if we shut her out, but that's just another issue we need to deal with ;o) And maybe, just maybe, I won't be the only one who hears the cats meowing screechingly in the middle of the night demanding their owners/slaves let them back in and be duly impressed with their kills. In the interests of transparency, you should probably know that I got these training bells for free in return for an honest review of them. I've got oodles of integrity (which I know, but I guess you'll just have to take my word for) and I wouldn't order a product I didn't have a genuine use for, never mind leave a positive review. I'll update should the dog be trained or the cats less feart....

Really useful for toilet training a puppy
Really good quality for price & ideal on our back door handle. We have a cockapoo puppy, it took about one week for her to start hitting them to go outside. Now she will ring every time she wants to go in the garden. It actual helped to toilet training because she was going wherever in the house now goes outside no more accidents ! The only negative is she will keep ringing every few minutes just so she can run out & back in. But hopefully now the weather is warmer we will leave the door open.

Karine

Tut was es soll

Works well
My 12 week old australian shepherd learned very quickly how to use the bells. We live on the 4th floor of an apartment, so these bells are a life saver with keeping our neighbors happy (no barking dog telling me he has to go out) and my puppy happy (easy way for him to tell me he needs to go out).
