Triton Planer Thicknesser – 1100W Bench Top Wood Planer, 317mm Width, Black/Orange (TPT125 / 583534)

I took delivery of this a couple of weeks ago but have only just started using it properly. The machine seems to be very robustly made indeed and although it has handles to move it around, it would be best sited semi-permanently because it's quite heavy. I have mine bolted to an old Black & Decker Workmate and and although this was meant to be a temporary measure, it seems to be working well and although heavy, it's relatively easy to move around if I need to make space so I may leave it as it is. The first tough job I've used it for has been the re-sizing of ancient pitch pine to dress out a log cabin which we're building and I'm well impressed. Pitch pine is denser then normal pine and it's also heavy with resin so it's a good test of the machine. I've been resizing timber off the saw to a variety of sizes, thicknesses and widths. The impressive thing is that every single finished face is flawless, regardless of thickness, width or length; other than prepping for varnish or oil, there's no further work to be done. One reviewer has complained about waste of the first inch or so of the timber, I have experienced none of this so I assume he is not feeding the timber flat on the workbed. Once fed (properly), the machine self-feeds the timber at a manageable speed, releasing it for an easy grab at the other side. Likewise, he has complained of it being noisy. It's a very powerful electric motor driving wide blades at very high speed so it will be noisy in a confined space but I find it only a little more noisy than my bench saw or my radial arm saw. You can always work with your iPod and noise-cancelling headphones! I've only tried a few offcuts of some very hard heart of oak and they've come out as smooth as the pitch pine has but I've yet to give it a scare with any very wide oak but I'm pretty sure that if I'm modest with each cut then it'll perform ok. How the blades will retail their sharpness, only time will tell. Sharing the load across the width of the blades should help to give even wear. Finally, the instructions are pretty clear, not that it's a complicated piece of machinery to operate, but there is none of the head-scratching poor translation cryptology or, sadly, the howlers you get when the Chinese have a go at translating without the help of Google. All in all, a good buy and I'm very pleased with it indeed.

having read some of the mixed reviews I still went ahead and bought this. I've always fancied one, and this was the cheapest one I could find by a few quid. I'm only a home DIY/hobbyist, but looking to make some furniture so needed something a bit more sturdy for a professional finish. only used for a short time this morning, on some weathered scaffolding boards, but wow. didn't have to tweak the blades, they were good to go out of the box. after practicing with some scrap got the hang of feeding to get a smooth finish. absolutely love it already. two things to be warned of though, yes it's loud, but I'm using outside. secondly be prepared for a big tidy up if you don't have a piped in dust extraction setup! I managed to bodge a bag over the exhaust port to catch the shavings/chips but my garden still looked like it had snowed 😃but I'm willing to put up with this for the ease of use and how good a finish it gives.

Got my Triton TPT125 yesterday and so far l am extremely impressed. It's well made and finished and although l know there has been criticisms about it having plastic sides but to be honest l think it's nicer (certainly better finished than the all metal Clarke) and appears to have plenty of power. I've put it through its paces with some redwood, Idigbo and some oak and l have to say again I'm extremely impressed because it all came out clean, flawless, didn't struggle with the oak and, much to my supprise, with very little snipe! Having borrowed a Clarke thicknesser from a friend to try l was left wondering if l really wanted to have one as l didn't like it and it led me on to thinking that I should go for a more expensive one like a Makita. Well at half the price this machine is worth much more and performs perfectly well. Now, it may not stand up to the riggers of site work like a Makita but then that's not what it was bought for, also it has to be said that it's noisy, but then they all are so just get good ear protection and send a bottle of wine over the the neighbours. I already have a Record PT107 thicknesser/ planer but as good as it is, it not the best for smaller pieces and final finishing of some softer woods so the Triton will be a great addition and l know will get a lot of use. Would l recommend the TPT125? Yes definitely, for the money I'm more than happy, Mike.

I was a little anxious🤔 when I found it impossible to secure the adjustment handle as the screw hole had been drilled off centre. A few seconds on the pillar drill and an additional washer and every thing was fine (lost a star here). Very easy to use, simple to set up. Very good finish on softwood (I've not had a chance to use it on hardwood yet). I found this provided an flat surface with about 0.013 thinner on one side compared with the other. The blades are simple to change with no obvious facility to adjust them. I may try shimming if I need to improve this aspect. The blades have two cutting faces and can be turned to use the second edge. No issues in using this machine other than clearing up the huge amount of shavings that can be produced. 🙂

I have been looking around for a thicknesser for about six months, I have read reviews and watched many videos! Of course if money wasn't a consideration I would have spent much more! I have seen a few thicknessers for less than this model but not many, in the end it came down to this one a dewalt and Makita both approximately £200.00 more, when I looked at reviews the Makita and Dewalt had slightly more negative responses! So I opted for the Triton !, it arrived on time well packaged and nothing missing, the set up was so easy I checked twice thinking I must have missed something. I set it up yesterday and had it running to test it, I started with a piece of pallet wood 2x4 inch and about 4ft length, it was quite rough and had a few knots , in no time it was worked to an impressive squired block, it was smooth and wouldn't require sanding, from there I passed many pieces of softwood through the machine all passed my tests, any errors were due to me not the machine for example not noticing a piece tapering wood and setting the height for the thin end, it jammed, I pressed stop raised the cutting head turned the wood reset the high , continuing to pass it through the machine, when the rollers loose contact I manual pushed and the pulled it through eventual the wood was square and smooth, so far I am happy with the machine and purchase ,after all it is a budget machine I didn't have overly high expectations however I am more than pleased.

Really pleased with the Triton Planer Thicknesser, really good build quality and performance. Only downside is that it does shower wood chips all over the place but this was easily overcome when I purchased a collector bin to use with a Vacum attached.

I have been shopping on Amazon for many years and never before have I left a review but on this occasion I felt compelled to review. I purchased a Triton 1100w Thicknesser and after using it only half a dozen times, the motor speed started to continually change back and forth from normal to a slow speed. Shortly after, there were sparks coming from within the motor housing which was quickly followed by smoke bellowing out of the housing. On reporting the matter, Amazon were very helpful and arranged for the faulty planer to be collected and replaced within a couple of days. The replacement Triton Thicknesser was better than the first, I got about ten uses out of this one before again the motor started to slow and I had sparks and smoke coming from within the motor housing. I got back in touch with Amazon who were again very helpful (can't fault their customer service), this time I asked for a refund and will look to purchase a Thicknesser of a different make.

Have owned this product for just over a year now, and thought now is a good time to put a review together. Firstly, don't let the low price lull you into thinking that you'll not get much for your money. This machine can compete with the DeWalts and Makitas of this world, easily. I have put a variety of hardwoods and softwoods through this and it has eaten them up without so much as breaking a sweat. I've put 2" x 12" solid slabs of oak through, I've put Walnut through, Pine, Poplar, Limewood, Sycamore to name a few, and every single cut comes out clean. The roller bar at the top of the unit is a great touch, as it allows you to lift the piece from the outfeed end and roll it over to the other side, so if you are tight of space (like most single garage owners like me) this a convenient feature to move 20kg+ pieces of wood from one side to the other. If I did have one niggle, it would be as I believe others have said, which is that Triton didn't see fit to make a 100mm outlet direct on the machine. This thing produces more chips than McDonalds! Luckily it has a 50mm outlet which you can easily get converters from making it a minor inconvenience rather than a problem. That being said, I'd still give this 10/10 - save your money from buying the more expensive brands - you'll not be disappointed with this!

Un buonissimo prodotti! Il prezzo non è proprio bassissimo ma le prestazioni sono davvero quelle di un macchinario professionale anche se ridotte nelle dimensioni. L'ho acquistata per riportare a nuovo un terrazzo, ho piallato tutti i paletti, i sostegni, le varie tavole, un risultato spettacolare. Il trascinamento del pezzo avviene automaticamente una volta inserito sotto i rulli, in caso di pezzi lunghi o pesanti è sufficiente seguirli e sostenerli per poermettere un passaggio regolare.

Tras mirar mucho vídeos de regruesadoras y comparando me decidí por esta y la verdad ha sido un acierto. Las tablas y tablones que he cepillado han quedado muy bien claro está que hay que ser consciente de que es una máquina pequeña y hay que bajar la cuchilla poco a poco, cada vuelta de la manivela baja las cuchillas 1.5 mm y la verdad si metes un tablón de 250mm le cuesta y suena forzado. Dándole casi la vuelta para que baje algo menos de un milímetro me deja las piezas muy bien eso es ir probando, no es lo mismo maderas blandas como el pino a otras más duras. En general estoy satisfecho.

Obwohl es kaum Erfahrungsberichte im deutschsprachigen Raum zu diesem Dickenhobel gibt, war ich ob meiner Erfahrungen mit der Oberfräse TOF001 des gleichen Herstellers zuversichtlich, dass ich hier keinen völligen Schrott erhalte. Da mein Werkstattplatz keine Abricht- Dickenhobelkombination zulässt hatte ich die Wahl zwischen Makita, Metabo, Güde oder eben Triton. Güde schied wegen der generell eher schlechten Bewertungen aus. Makita und Metabo kratzten ganz schön an der Büdgetgrenze. Dann also die Triton. Die Maschine ist etwa 31 kg schwer (die arme Postfrau ;-) ) und war so verpackt, das sie den Transport gut überstehen konnte. Die Anleitung ist mehrsprachig aber sehr spartanisch gehalten. Für einen ersten Test habe ich lediglich die Kurbel und den Staubsaugeranschluss montieren müssen. Mein erster Eindruck der Auflagentische war eher durchwachsen, verstellbar aber nur aus etwas dickerem Blech gefertigt. Der mittlere Tisch (also der unter der Messerwalze) lies sich sogar leicht nach unten drücken. Da hier noch eine Schutzolie angebracht war habe ich den kurzerhand abgebaut (4 Schrauben), gerichtet, Folie abgemacht und wieder eingebaut. Dabei war unter dem Blech noch ein Gitter, welches augenscheinlich stabil und plan war. Bei meinen ersten Hobelversuchen konnte ich das auch bestätigen. Das "wellige" Mittelblech wird von den Einzugs-Andruckwalzen auf die gerade Unterkonstruktion gedrückt. Die Auflagentische mussten noch mal austarriert werden. Als Test habe ich eine schmale Leiste aus Hartholz und ein Brett aus Kiefer benutzt. Das Hobelbild ist ausgezeichnet, abgesehen vom leichten Hobelschlag auf den ersten 5 cm. Dies ist jedoch auch bei den Maschinen von Makita und Metabo zu erwarten. Die Walze ist ab Werk absolut plan eingestellt (ist laut Anleitung aber auch korrigierbar). Was nicht so gut funktioniert hat, war das Absaugen der (langen) Hobelspäne, das könnte aber auch an meiner schwachbrüstigen Staubsauger-Zyklon Kombination liegen. Den Triton Staubfangeimer empfehle ich hier ausdrücklich nicht (siehe meine dortige Rezension), da er noch mehr Saugkraftverlust erzeugte. Über die Haltbarkeit kann ich zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt noch nichts sagen, alle wichtigen Teile muten aber wertig an. Der verwendete Dichtungsmossgummi hingegen scheint aber eine Haltbarkeit von ca. 2 Wochen zu haben. Ich bin aber der Meinung, das er sowieso verzichtbar ist. Fazit: Für den Hobbyholzwerker ein tolles, bezahlbares Gerät, welches meinen Ansprüchen derzeit vollständig gerecht wird.

Je possède déjà une raboteuse/dégauchisseuse et je souhaitais utiliser cette raboteuse en "dépotage" ... Mais je l'utilise en raboteuse principale... Les réglages sont précis et faciles et la qualité du rabotage est nickel pour peu que l'on ne veuille pas enlever trop de matière en une seule passe. Je recommande

conforme à mes attentes, fait le job pour une machine de ce type
