Converted Gaming Headset to handy Skype and recording studio set.
Needed a better quality microphone input to my H-tosh desktop setup (with a Gigabyte Z77N-WIFI motherboard).[Had a Tritton Detonator headset for XBox360 which separates from the headset controller leaving a male 3.5mm 4 pin plug which works well on iPhones and IPads. The mic (with a wind shield) makes good recordings on GarageBand on these iOS devices].So wanted to use the Detonator on the H-tosh motherboard which has the traditional two 3 pin audio sockets on the motherboard (pink and green) replicated on the case front. This splitter seemed to fit the bill for the conversion.I can report this works very well in fact. My only adaptation was to add a short bit of red and green heat shrink to the plugs for rapid identification of which one is mic and which is headphone as the markings are small black symbols embossed into the black plastic which are hard to see in a hurry.Good price, Nice build quality, nicely packaged and will bookmark this seller.

Useful, well built, reasonable price
Pretty good, well built and simple (looks exactly as in picture). It's very useful if you need to use a 3,5mm 4pin TRRS jack (e.g. smartphone headset w/ mic) on a traditional 3pin TRS (headphones) + 2pin TS (mic) plug, like in a lot of old devices and computers. This allows you to avoid unwanted interferences or other problems.I bought this some time ago and used it a lot. So far it hasn't disappointed me.Maybe it's a bit pricey for what it is, but still reasonable.

Brilliant for using your smartphone headset on normal 3.5mm jack sockets, works perfectly
Finally after many years of fiddling about with headsets that have a 4-pole plug (rather than a 'standard' 3-pole plug) I can listen to music from a source that is not my phone.Plugging in my rather good, Amazon-source Audio Technics headset into anything other than my phone meant I had to fiddle with it and pull it out a bit from the 3.5mm 3-pole socket, otherwise the music sounded really strange and echoey. Every time. So annoying. This fantastic 4-pole splitter allows me to plug my earphone into it and then the other end (marked faintly with a headphone symbol) into my laptop or radio or whatever and it all just works without any fiddling about whatsoever. Brilliant!I've not plugged the other end marked with a microphone symbol (which lets you plug it into the microphone socket on your PC for use with Skype and the like) as that's not what I got it for, but I'm sure it would work as well as the other plug.I wish I had found this several years ago, can't live without it now!

I got a headset at a certain German shop for ...
I got a headset at a certain German shop for £8 that works well but only on the iPad, so I bought this and now it works on the computer as well. It is actually handier than USB headsets, because this one starts working straight away. You can just plug it in and out.The only things you have to mind:a. the plug has to be pushed in really well, or there will be no sound at all or just in one ear etc.b. the plug has to be in in a certain way. 1 in the speaker the other in the mic, it does not work the other way around.

Only works on one of my laptops...
These work great with my favourite earbud-style headset and my own netbook for Skype etc. Trouble is I bought it for working with my work laptop (Lenovo X200), and it doesn't work with that for some reason. Blame the Lenovo rather than the splitter I guess. Still a good price.
