Good solid bike rack, great value for money.
This is a good solid bike rack. The instructions could be a lot better but managed to assemble it with no problems - only tools needed were 10mm spanners to secure the bike holders to the frame, not sure why other reviewers had to use a drill.I was able to fit it easily and quickly to my Nissan Micra and used the supplied adaptors on the middle straps due to the windscreen extending to the edge of the lid. I think I could've managed to avoid using them as there is metal behind the edge of the glass but I felt safer using them.I mounted two cycles (a medium MTB and large hybrid) easily and securely. Although I fitted them quite high on the car, I found I had to remove the front wheel off one bike (large frame, 28" wheel) to avoid obscuring a rear light cluster. On the first trip, we travelled about 80 miles to Kielder, about 50-50 motorways and twisty bumpy country roads. I checked the straps several times during the journey and only had to make an adjustment on the safety strap once (due to the load settling). If anyone has problems with straps loosening, please ensure that the strap enters the buckle from the rear as it will self tighten (this should be added to the instructions!).

Perfect for long or short distances.
I bought this bike rack because I needed a cheap and effective way of transporting my road bike on long and short car journeysPositivesObviously this is a great priced carrier. But it's also a very effective means of transporting your bike on the back of a car. I've done several journey of 200 miles or more and have had no issues with the carrier.Points to ConsiderThese aren't' negative points, but they are considerations. When you first fit the rack to your car, do take time to get the angle of the carrier right. This is crucial to getting the tension in the straps correct. Also my initial thought was that the straps need to be super tight. Actually once in position they just need to have sufficient tension in them to support the carrier on the back of the car. Once you put the bike or bikes on the rack the tension will increase and the rack will be stable and secure. When you first get the rack, spend a few minutes experimenting with it. Once you put it together you'll get the hang of it.....I've fitted the rack in the driving rain at 10pm at night and had no issues....but I would advise that you practice a couple of times so you know what you are doing. You will need to tie up the ends of the straps to stop them flapping around. Also I have a golf hatch back and I noticed that over the course of a long journey the rubber pads that sit against the car moved a few cm's due to the vibration.I have only carried two bikes once of the rack, but I found no issues with its performance, although I did have to spend a little time insuring that the rack angle was correct. The only really negative point I have notices is that the bottom set of straps can sometime come loose. This seems to be because they have elastic separators in the cords to allow some give over bumps and on less smooth roads. However this does result in them coming lose on occasion. this isn't a problem because the top and side straps and the overall rigidity of the frame mean that the rack stays in place, but it is a little unnerving to discover this has happened so I'd recommend that you check these periodically on long journeysOverall this is a great product, it hasn't failed me once, and has carried my bike all over the UK.

Good value for money’s
Not difficult to put together just allow 25mins the first time as there are a lot of parts. Very sturdy, carried 3 mountain bikes to a race recently without a problem, if anything the car would break first! Small bikes might be an issue as the bars frame is fairly wide apart, conversely we took the front wheels off the mountain bikes as they over hung the sides a bit. For the price great value, but do buy some bungees to keep things tight and some cheap pipe lagging to stop scratches between bikes.

Excellent, easy to fit & Stable
Having tried several major High Street Retailers, where I was greeted with blank looks and a "Computer says nooooo..." attitude, I returned to Amazon, where I should have started. I read around the best Bike Carrier's for my car type...VW Golf, and settled on this one. It arrived 1 day after orderreing, tho I selected the "Standard" Option. It was fool proof to assemble and I fixed it to the back of my car in 15-20 mins, on my own. The instructions were easy to follow, but I could have managed without. The product is well made and felt sturdy from the outset. I made a 450mile round trip in rain and highwinds, last weekend, with my bike attached to the back of my car. It didnt move, or feel like it would move, once. I was thouroughly impressed by this product and it is 15-20% cheaper here than on the highstreet. Buy this with confidence.
