No, not motorized. You place the fruit in the well and push the top down to push and cut fruit through the blades. Perfect cut slices! It works great if you need to cut a large amount of fruit. Heavy duty plastic- strong and sturdy. I’d buy again.

Q: Does this work for oranges as well?

It could possibly work. I have not tried it as the wedges would be to large for the way I use. I use limes wedges. The orange would have to be of a size that fits inside. A large naval orange probably would not fit.

Q: Would this be hard for an older person to press down on? (Does it need a lot of force?)

There should be no problem for an elderly person. The unit is made to wedge a lemon or lime one at a time and the citrus saber is designed to use both hands; so I don't see an issue here. Hope this helps.
