Gave them a good clean with sugar soap, let them dry and got busy with a brush and mini-roller to apply the primer. Found it to be quite a thin primer, but it didn't run when applied. It had the consistency of a thin pva glue, but the coverage was excellent and stayed where I put it, no drips or pools or splatter. It dries very quickly, which is important when you've got a house full of geriatric dogs who keep bumbling into everything! Touch dry in 15 minutes is actually accurate, and was applying the first coat of paint over the primer in less than an hour. The smell isn't great, but with the windows open it wasn't too unpleasant.
