Illustrates the inner workings of a V8 engine
Bought as a birthday present for my son who has an old USA car fitted with a v8 engine. Said he thoroughly enjoyed building the kit. Some of the parts had moulding flare which needed carefully trimming off before assembling and applying adhesive. No glue contained in the kit which at the fairly high price charged for the V8 engine kit I thought would have been included by Revel at very little cost to them..

V 8 Auto Engine Model.
Bought because V8 Models are hard to come by and I have made up many V4 Engine Models which have proved popular and useful to many other people including youngsters. This V8 Model is yet to be assembled (Autumn Project) as I am working on Classic American Car with V8 Engine for Summer use. The model looks good in the box and may be of interest to other Classic American enthusiasts. It is more than a toy !

Revell visible V8 Engine
I made the original version of this 20 years ago, when was retiring from the motor trade because of early Arthritis, It worked fine for a few weeks, then all the cogs, just disintegrated , and 12 pieces, came apart on crucial turning shafts & were totally useless. Cracks appeared even on the pistons and Con rods.Revell was not very helpful trying to get replacement parts at that time. Mine was electric motor driven, The price of this when I bought it was only about £25.To be honest, The price it is now, is way over the build quality and time span it will still be working.I would rather go for the Airfix models or the Haynes Engine, But even some of those engines, have the fitting problems,& are not made to last that long. These are really aimed at youngerbuyers, to that end, for Adults who wish to make such a working model, it is best to look at more professional high Quality Component models, unfortunately these types come with a very heftyprice tag.Plastic working models Are notorious for short life span, having said that, A Beam engine I made many years ago, lasted a good couple of years, and was great fun to build andwork, as that had an electric motor in base with the batteries. Maybe there's some special lube for plastic parts now that doesn't lead to the degradation of the plastic?

Overpriced and difficult to build, yet pleasing on the eye.
I purchased this at my son's insistence. It took quite a while to build, mainly because of the average fit and flash on many components. The end result is very good, but I had to resort to superglue to prevent it falling apart after construction.I have a great deal of experience with plastic kits and found this one was no comparison with the quality of the Haynes motorised engine kit.Admittedly a more simple one, and pity it is only 4-cylinder.
