Excellent, no, perfect for out and about headphones
This is the perfect set of headphones for listening to audio whilst out and about. Why? I'll try to tell you: (1) no hot ears and comfortable. I have a small brain and head, but these still fit well. They don't heat my ears up too much when walking fast either. (2) not too expensive to be worried about loss or theft. I had a £350 headphones that I occasionally took outside and would just be in a state of panic in case I lost them. Best not to buy too expensive when out and about. Also, it's a different listening focus to at home listening. (3) excellent speech - I listen to a lot of podcasts, radio 4. The audio is truly excellent. (4) music quality - it's very good for the price. I listen to various genres on Spotify. Look folks - I've heard and owned lots of modern music devices and the music quality is a good step down from the quality I get from a separate hifi. Digital music/online music just hasn't quite got the quality despite reading lots of amazing reviews. Most people using headphones will be using their mobiles and listening to similar sources to the above. These headphones are excellent in terms of music quality in this context. For bass lovers, the bass line on hot thing, Prince sounds great to me. Noise cancellation- don't know as never owned this feature before. I avoid as I worry I'll get run over by a bus with them on. Hence, three stars - it's a don't know!

Good quality.
Good sound. Really nice warm red colour. Fits very nicely. The wire came a tad loose after about a year but I think that's my fault for maybe not storing it correctly.

Well-designed and good value for money
As a family with young children it is vital to have a good and diverse selection of headphones - each of us is frequently connected to an electronic device and either shouldn’t disturb the others or requires some peace and quiet. Now our oldest needed a wired headset to take to school and potentially keep it there in her locker, so we simply had to add another one. This Sony headset perfectly filled the need at a very friendly price. Being black it is quite neutral, it is light weight, wears comfortably can be folded together rather neatly. The headband is fairly broad and not as flimsy as you would often see with cheap headsets, so this will survive rough handling in schoolbags. The sound quality is good enough for our purposes; online education, video calls and the occasional podcast. If yo would use it to listen to music you will not be disappointed; the bass is fine, the different sounds are highly distinguishable. Though the headset lacks any controls for bass or volume, nor does it include a micro phone. It does however claim to have active noise cancelling, however I found it fairly ineffective (compared to my super-upscale Bose headset (that has noise cancelling that isn’t even perfect) - I could still my wife’s usual rant directed at me through it , way too clear. All in all this is a very good value, no frill headset. Surprised by the price / quality actually. Would recommend.

Be careful with cable choice.
These are very good value for money. One reviewer here complains about the cable being thinner than his previous ones and getting tangled. If you choose the the ones with an in-line microphone then they have to have a thinner cable for the microphone connection. The ones without the in-line microphone have a much thicker cable which doesn't get tangled and this is the one that the reviewer is referring to as his previous headphones. He just chose the wrong ones for his purpose, there is nothing wrong with them.

Gold Style, Bronze Sound...
I bought these for a bargain at under £12, although if I'd have paid £20+ I would have been a little disappointed with the frequency response, mainly in the high mids and highs. I must admit, I'm accustomed to listening to music with expensive headphones, but needed a cheaper pair of foldable headphones (mainly for travel) to replace a pair of broken JVC Flats. For that purpose, they are a great buy, especially if you can get them under or around the £15 mark, but if you're looking for clarity in music you'd be better looking elsewhere and increasing your budget a bit. Out of the pack, the low end response makes for plenty of bass for a 30mm driver unit, but that's at the expense of high mids and high frequencies. Notes that should cut through in mixes can get lost in the muddiness of the overall sound experience. Compared to the JVC Flats, the mid/high clarity is disappointing, although the bass response is far superior to the JVC's, so it depends on what you prefer and what you're willing to sacrifice frequency-wise. That said, the headphones are comfortable and fold up easily. The build quality is decent and the wire is short enough and easy to fold, with none of those annoying twists you can get with other headphones. Visually, the Sony MDRZX310's look great with the offset Sony logo on each side, and Left/Right markings are easy enough to spot in low light. I'd definitely say buy these, as long as you're not looking for audio gold, you won't be disappointed.
