Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures [Blu-ray] [1981] [Region Free]

This contains five blu ray discs in a fold out case, artwork is very good and each of the films have THX sound and commentaries as an insight behind the film. Picture and sound was perfect, I use headphones for movies and everything was brilliant. Very satisfied with my purchase.

Great collection of amazing movies (not kingdom of the crystal skull). This set includes the completely uncensored version of temple of doom and extended version of raiders and last crusade( 5 and 7 minutes longer than the DVDs)

Top quality product. The box itself is one of the nicest box sets I own. And arguably one of the nicest box sets out there that isn't a limited edition box set or costs an extortionate amount. It comes in a hard outer case and inside a foldable thin cardboard thing with the blu ray discs. And an extra disc with bonus footage! Yay! (see photos) The blu rays are exactly the same copy as the DVD with no changes as far as I am aware. Which I am so pleased about. (no thanks George Lucas). The audio quality is amazing. I am no expert on audio quality but every scream and punch is so beautiful to hear and makes the experience even more amazing. The remastering of the films is superb. Simply beautiful. They have remastered it perfectly. You can see every drop of sweat, every detail in the clearest quality. A must have for anyone who is a fan and doesn't own the Indiana Jones films on blu ray. And is available for a very very good price too.

If ever there was a must have Blu-ray box set this is it. With the exception of Star Wars , this box set is quite possibly the most sort after Blu-rays out there and I wasted absolutely no time at all when this dropped through my letter box and was in my Blu-ray player in under a minute! Can never decide which is my favourite Spielberg movie , Raiders or Jaws , but just glad that I now finally own them both on Blu-ray. Picture transfer is once again just breathtaking. Crisp , clear although the first thing that I noticed on Raiders was that the whole film seemed to have what can only be described as a "gold filter" over the camera lens , which has a noticeable effect with the colour compared to the VHS and DVD releases. This is by no means a bad thing , but I have read numerous (although somewhat exaggerated) complaints about it , but for me , it just makes the film feel more like the old action serials that it intended to be like , and the colours warm and more pleasing to the eye...For me anyway. Only have the one minor gripe about the transfer which is , ever since the introduction of Hi-Def images , particularly on older films , they do tend to show up flaws in camera work. Notably in Raiders , the scene where the tarantula runs across Alfred Molina's chest appears to be completely out of focus , and the scene where Indy is hiding behind some wooden crates before he steals the undersized uniform is really quite grainy (or speckling effect) , but these are the only flaws I've noticed with the first three films and if you blinked , you'd miss them , so will quite happily let it go. Truth be told , my real apprehension of this transfer was with Mr Lucas's itchy fingers attached to the films. Have to say , I was a little nervous about buying this box set before reading any reviews about it , but his involvement in the restoration is not apparent. Absolutely "Nooooooo" tweaking here , apart from the deleted reflection on the glass from Indy's encounter with the cobra that was done a few years ago , which I think is universally agreed is a good use of CGI tinkering and can't possibly believe anyone , not even a hardline purist , would complain about it. The sound is presented in 5.1 DTS master audio and sounds fantastic. John Williams , with yet another iconic score , just sounds staggering and the gunfight in Marion's bar sounds like Indy's firing a cannon with every gunshot. The almost cartoon-like "THWACK" with every punch , which was always purposely exaggerated , sounds even more so with the new sound and is definitely more satisfying to hear. Although I do find a little too much use of the subwoofer with this transfer which seems to be used on everything , which is more unusual rather than a complaint , but hey! Thats the neighbours problem ! The extras are excellent and most die hard fans would have already seen the majority of the 7 hours worth , most of which have been transferred straight from the VHS and DVD releases , which again is not a bad thing as I like to have them all in one place rather than having to keep older formats just for a particular feature. The only new addition to the features that I've noticed is the "On set with Raiders of the Lost Ark" documentary with some rarely seen gag reels , deleted and alternative scenes which was an absolute joy to watch , and even though I consider myself a die hard fan of these films , I must have missed these over the years as I'd never seen them before. If , like me , you ever wondered how Indy survived the long journey atop of a submarine without drowning , then one of the deleted scenes gives you the answer... Kind of. I could waffle on about the other movies but will just say , ALL of them are beautifully transferred , and Temple of Doom is fully uncut for the first time on UK shores with a minute or so of extra gore and violence... And swinging through trees with monkeys aside , I like all the films. Not quite as good a transfer as Jaws or the Alien Anthology box set , which has set the bar very high indeed for quality in older movies on Blu-ray , but I really am talking about minuscule differences here and its very difficult to select the best quality out of those three. Its a shame that Paramount hadn't stuck to their guns as they had announced that all their films released on Blu-ray would be in 7.1 sound , and to be fair , every film from them that I've bought has been... this being the only exception so far , although this is probably down to Mr Lucas's bizarre reluctance to use 7.1. Still , in my humble view its perfectly fine and definitely deserves a very worthy 5 star rating for an outstanding transfer to Blu-ray , and think you'll be very impressed with this box set nonetheless , and for me , this is a definite purchase.

I love all the Blu-rays that I bought. I had not intended to re-buy movies on blu-ray that I already had on dvd, but after buying the Harry Potter set at such a great price with prompt delivery. I bought seven of the "sets": Mission Impossible, The Mummy, Indiana Jones, Toy Story, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, and the Bourne series. The prices were unbelievable and they all play fine. I am especially happy with the Toy Story series as I have waited a long time to buy it in the States and can't. I bought this set, and while the title didn't say Region-free, the detail did. And yes, it, along with all of the others played fine on my U.S. blu-ray (well, I just made sure the machine could read them). Delivery was another issue. They did not come when promised. I called Amazon and the were VERY good about it. They offered an immediate refund, no questions asked---except, I didn't want a refund. So, they changed it and resent it. I received Jurassic Park by itself, and as of 3/14/13, still have not received the other six. However, the original box arrived about 3 weeks late, ripped open, but will all of the blu-rays still there. Well, at least I got them, they all play, the price was FANTASTIC, and Amazon service gets an A+ for caring. I tell all my friends to order from the Amazon UK site. Oh, I was very surprised to to see that the price shown INCLUDES shipping, which I didn't find out until I ordered. Again, just make sure anything you order says REGION-FREE somewhere in the product.

This collaboration between Steven Spielberg and George Lucas brings one of the most loved franchises ever made. Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of Spielberg's best movies while Last Crusade has a great father and son relationship with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. Temple of Doom while not in the same league as the other two original films is still a good film, even though some of the characters are a little annoying. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull however is a disappointment, with too much CGI and too many new characters aligned with Jones. So while the films maybe 50/50, this is still worth the money with one of the greatest movie characters brought to life.

This set of 5 DVDs includes each of the four movies in the Indiana Jones series, beautifully rendered on Blu-ray, as well as a plethora of bonuses. Here are brief comments on each film. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) The series’ first instalment has aged very well, possibly in part because its plot was set some fifty years before its release. The action is still strikingly intense, locations (Nepal, Egypt, USA) are exotic and diversified and there are honest attempts at achieving a consistent plot and making significant historical connections. A generous helping of humour, including self-mockery, is the icing on the cake. Special effects do appear a little quaint by today’s standards but are still effective. The Temple of Doom (1984) This second film is energized with many new characters, including children. Locations (Shanghai and rural India) are exciting and the budget, no doubt, was larger than for “Raiders”. Indeed, there are countless extras, highly developed action scenes and even a large-scale 1930’s style dance number. If anything, humour is even more abundant. The Last Crusade (1989) This third movie adds depth to main character, starting with a flashback to his teen-age years and, yet more significantly, by having his father, played by Sean Connery, share his adventures throughout most of the film. Once again, humour is pervasive, as well as references to former movies, including by Connery. The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) This fourth film was made some 19 years later, with Harrison Ford in the lead role then at 64 years old, older in fact than Sean Connery in “The Last Crusade”. Ford, though, still radiates with dynamism and his character appears as energetic as ever. Many may find however that the character played by Shia La Beouf is aggravating rather than funny or charming. In fact, his inspiration for his 1950’s character seems based on Happy Day’s “Fonzie” rather than on anything truly from the era. Some viewers may judge this film to be somewhat of a knockoff of the previous ones, given technological advances over the intervening period, notably regarding CGI. Also, many members of the original filmmaking team as well secondary actors sadly passed away in the meantime. Worse, the whole movie was shot in the USA, with for instance Hawaii as a questionable stand-in for the Amazon. Bonuses to the set are abundant and enlightening, despite some repetitions. They include an overview of the series’ impact, a “Making of” for each of the four movies (actually two for “Raiders”) as well as thematic discussions on music, special effects, locations, etc. Regarding the team, striking elements by today’s expectations are the limited role of women (who appear almost only as actresses and scriptwriters) and, I believe, the total absence of African Americans. Chances are that the situation will be different for the fifth movie, currently scheduled to be released in 2023!

It was time to relive some favorite movies, and my older DVDs of the first three Indiana Jones movies needed updating to BluRay standards. This box has the four movies remastered in 1080p HD and surround sound, plus a bonus disc of extras. Dealing with the movies, they are outstandingly remastered, crisp and clean with great contrast and definition, and the 5.1 audio was also excellent (if not a bit bass-heavy, but that's to be expected). The opening THX splash always thrills me! The four movies come across well, and the extras disc has a variety of features on the movies. I really enjoyed watching the series again, and they have aged very well. My wife never saw any of the series, so going through with her was fun, too! Nice box set, and I'll be watching the movies again in a year or two.

I watched the movies on my new 4K TV with my bluray player. They looked good and crisp compared to the dvds, and took no more space. I haven't looked at the bonus disc.

Great to have in Blu-Ray at an affordable price for all 4 movies, only thing was shipping very slow, took a month to get here.

Would be 5 stars if it was just a trilogy.
