I wanted to go fashion colours rather then the standard array and after testing it out on my mid Brown to brown red hair, the blue didn't take to my natural and turned green on my previously dyed hair. At least then I knew to bleach! I was concerned. Just as everyone has, I've heard the horror stories but figured to do it anyway. The instructions aren't complicated and are very easy to follow. It comes with everything you need. I bought two boxes and only needed one for my incredibly thick shoulder length hair. It can be complicated to apply with just a brush. I reccomend having someone with you as a second pair of eyes and hands. The person I had was a moron and that's why my hair came out patchy. My fault, not the product. On my natural hair, it turned just a shade off of white. On the died hair it turned a pale shade of green (that was to be expected) and because I missed patches (due to my own incompetence and the incompetence of my helper) I also had patches of my natural colour thrown in for good measure. I left it on for just over an hour and a half. Please please please do a strand test though. I didn't, but it's an important step. Once I washed out the bleach, I was expecting the worse for my hair in terms of condition. However my hair was just as silky smooth as it was before. I suggest some TLC after you've bleached. Use good shampoo and conditioner, heat treatments and the like, because bleaching IS HARSH ON YOUR HAIR!!! I can't stress that enough.
