Not enough leverage
Bought this as I have always valued the quality of Park tools. Used this to undo a new 11 speed Shimano chain. Sadly the rotating handle and the base plate are both a bit short and a bit skinny so I couldn’t generate enough force just by hand to break the chain. Had to get 2 pairs of pliers one for the base plate and one for the rotating lever. Once I did that worked fine. Somewhat disappointing but at least this wasn’t particularly expensive.

Does what it says on the Tin.
We had 2 inferior chain tools before the plastic handle broke on one the other wasn't fit for purpose. This is well made and sturdy and does the job.

Hassle free, just works
Had this 2 years now but didn't want to review until used a few times. Had cheaper tools before and they are just frustrating and the threads strip and the pins break as not held straight. This one just works, despite the small size it takes little effort and I have confidence it will work each time. Using Shimano 9 speed chains. I don't take it with me but see no disadvantage in being "mini" except perhaps being harder to find in the toolbox!

With Care Gets The Job Done
Used this to break 11 speed KMC e-bike chain. I found it a bit fiddly to keep the punch lined up with the chain rivet. What happens is, you get it lined up, but as the punch contacts the chain rivet the rotation moves it so it is no longer lined up. On one occasion after the rivet had been pushed through, when I unscrewed the tool the punch unscrewed and detached, easy enough to screw back in though.I think it does need used with care, if a lot of pressure is applied when the punch is not lined up with the chain rivet, I'd fear it might just bend the location prongs. I'ts not a bad tool considering it's size and that it's not intended for every day use, there are no huge issues when used carefully, I'm happy enough to keep it in my tool kit, it's small enough to go in the carry with kit for on the move repairs. Not perfect perhaps, but does get the job done.I haven't used the tight link loosening function so can't comment on that.

Buy this - don't waste your money on cheaper ones
I bought this, having wrecked a cheaper one on first use. Learn from me and buy this slightly dearer one in the first place. It worked out on the road where I really needed it to.

Broke in unusual way
Tool broke after about two years of use when trying to remove a chain. I have never used anything but my hands to apply pressure. I even bought Park Tool replacement pins, thinking how great this little tool was. I've had many chain tools and they brake, but that is pins get distorted or brake, but never seen body to brake. I've heard about life time warranty for Park Tools. I contacted Amazon in regards to this and they were very helpful and agreed to replace it. Currently awaiting replacement. Overall I find this tool easy to use, small and compact, it is easy to carry with you. I will continue to review this item.

Works perfectly with 1/8 single speed KMC chains.
I use this exclusively with 1/8 single speed KMC chains.A 1/8 KMC Chain fits nice and snug in this tool and the pinscrews accurately and easily to make light work of the chain rivet. No need to buy the more expensive Park Tool Chain Tool IMO,as this chain tool uses the exact same pin.Highly Recommended.
