The reception is very good but will need an outdoor antenna as the one ...
This scanner does what it is seize on the tin, No fills and covers the bands for aircraft plus scanning bands,The reception is very good but will need an outdoor antenna as the one that comes with it is pretty naff. Takes time to work out how to scan and save bands but if you order from Rocket Radio the nice staff there are so willing to help with any enquiries and know there stuff. If your only starting out in this field this is the radio to start with set up correct will do the same job as one three times the price.

Surprisingly Good
A very good scanner that is reasonably easy to use and program.Desktop scanners are not my favourite as they are only good for one thing. However, I like this one as it fits perfectly in a gap on the desk. What's GoodLayout of buttons have been planned and quickly fall to hand.Size and quality of buttons and knobs are very good.Quality of sound is very good and clear.Sensitivity. Pick up aircraft at 20,000ft from 100 miles away clearly.Power supply for this unit is a proper iron cored transformer one. No noise at all and should last forever. What's BadThe provided VHF antenna has a plastic "BNC" connector. It works but isn't that good.Useage.No complaints at all. I put an external antenna on the unit immediately and quickly put in the local frequencies into memory. It now sits there either scanning or on hold backing up the AOR8600. Actually, it has taken over from the 8600 on airband...Value to me. I would pay £90.00 for the unit, which is what I did!

Great wee scanner .
An excellent (Uniden/Bearcat) scanner for the price ....does exactly what it says in the advert. I am only ten miles from the airport and pick up the tower with the antenna provided , it does pick up planes from maybe 10 miles away with the antenna provided.. but I decided to buy as Skyscan mobile/desktop antenna (around £30) and that certainly made a difference (I use it on my window sill but have never used it mobile ..it has a magnetic base but it does not need to be on a metal base for receiving ) I can now pick up planes from 80-100 miles away and the tower is a clear as a bell . I am really pleased with this product ....and the skyscan antenna at this page ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/SKYSCAN-MOBILE-DESKTOP-SCANNER-ANTENNA/dp/B005EROVRW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1466678549&sr=8-1&keywords=skyscan+mobile+desktop+all+round+scanner+aerial+antenna

ignore the manual it's useless. Use the lower and upper scans for much ...the above is for thicko's like me who didn't understan
Once you'v made the breakthrough in programing, ignore the manual it's useless. Use the lower and upper scans for much better results, press search then hold, program lowest freq ie 118.1 and press E you should get LO on your screen arrow up and you should get UP then enter your highest freq ie 119.0 then E then search when you find something press hold and press E to store into next available memory slot. you can use any freq you like eg 455.0 to 456.0 hope this helps.
