Overview: After well over a month, this seed takes reasonably well in topsoil, but scatter it and expect it to do well and you’ll be disappointed.Disclaimer: I don’t know what I’m doing, I really don’t! I wouldn’t describe myself as having green fingers. Hopefully if you don’t know what you’re doing either, then this review helps!So this review is going to be slightly different. The seed is only decent if it actually germinates and sprouts. Instead of a one shot review, I’ll try and update this on a weekly basis until around 4 weeks, That way, hopefully I’ll have a luscious thick green lawn. Or at least some sprouting anyway!Week 0: Several holes were dug by one Naughty Dog(!) and so these were filled in with top soil. A decent amount of seed was placed in each and then trodden down. I watered a little and left. Whilst the packet has a warning about birds, none have been interested so far. The rest of the grass is threadbare in places and so the entire pack was spread liberally around.The pack is supposedly good for 16sqm. The grass area is probably 30sqm but also pretty well covered with a few patches, and so it is appropriate. And that’s as far as I’ve got so far. I will water every few days to make sure that it stays moist.Week 1: Update. So a week and a day and some shoots are growing. I'd actually expected to report nothing since it wasn't obvious, but as per photos 9/410 you can see them. I have watered the grass a couple of times over very hot weather but other than that, I left it.Week 2: OK, so a decent week of April showers... Plenty of sun and plenty of rain. Where the grass was shooting up, its growing well. Elsewhere it has refused to grow. The places where it is growing is where I placed topsoil to fill in the holes dug by the dog. Morale of the story.... Prep matters.Week 4: And so, where the grass sprouted within ten days or so is very nice and green. Long strands ready for cutting, and fairly thick and close together. Elsewhere there isn’t sight or sound of anything. I wanted something easy, something that I could scatter, and look after with some watering but that was about it. This is not that. I understand you can’t expect miracles, but I expected a little more.Where it grows, it’s great.

This is the second bag of grass seed I have purchased from this seller as the first bag was amazing and grew so quickly. For years I had a problem area in my lawn with lots of bald patches. I tried a number of different products but nothing worked long-term. I think I also chose a good time to sow the seed as not on did it remain warm, it rained heavily for a couple of weeks after sowing and the grass shot up in a matter of days. After several cuts it is now looking lush and full for the first time in years. I purchased this second bag to do my front lawn which is in direct sunlight all day and was decimated by long spells of dry and very hot weather a couple of years ago. Being September it is not the best time to sow and may take longer to grow and fall prey to birds unless I can protect the area with netting.

Ordered this on spec and was in desperate need of some regrowth in my disaster area lawn.To be honest I was disappointed by the size of the bag, there was very little seed for the money and I had been expecting about half as much again. However it did come with some good instructions and some tips to follow. Anyway I sowed the seed over those bare patches of lawn as per instructions and I, waited...and waited..and waited a bit more. Hardly any growth at all after about two weeks. Then two things happened. First I applied a good old soaking of Iron Sulphate solution. Second the weather changed to cooler and much wetter with frequent showers and several downpours over a 3 week period.The grass seed got the message.The areas sown now have strong, dense healthy growth and parts of the lawn which just didn't have grass now do so.This review was going to be a 1 star until the change. Now I can see the results I'm very happy.Not the biggest bargain out there but what its produced can't be argued with. So 4 stars it is.

I’ve tried a number of types of grass seed to re-sow my front lawn, but this stuff was superb.Follow the instructions closely, as a bit of prep pays big dividends, and do cover the seed as the over sized pigeons in our area absolutely loved this stuff, until I rigged up a net covering.Within 2 weeks, the first shoots were through, and 4 weeks later I have a lush green lawn.It’s not a huge bag, so you might need more than one if you have a big space to cover, but it’s great quality and I’d highly recommend it.Nice email from the company too, being very proactive in offering advice and support.Very happy customer

This grass seed is OK. It was set in March and was watered for the first weeks then left to see what it would do.It was thrown across the bare patch fairly randomly but, weirdly, seems to have taken in a strangely regular pattern which was unexpected.The last couple of months the new grass hasn't grown at all due to the extremely dry weather but I'm delighted that it has started to shoot again now we are getting some rain.It is a very different type of grass to the rest of the lawn and I think I'm going to sprinkle some of the left over seed over the edge of the existing grass so that it blends in a bit more - but, overall, fairly successful

I used it to fill in bare patches. I raked the area, spread the seeds and covered with some topsoil. I kept it watered, either rain or by me. Within two weeks there was a good length of grass though it came up a bit patchy. Looks like some seeds didn't germinate. Neverthless the bare patches look more green than not. I also sprinkled some seeds in other areas where original grass thin. I didn't cover this with any topsoil and I don't think these seeds germinated. Instructions do say to cover with soil so I don't blame the seeds.

Great Product, I had some law turfed, but needed some seed for the bits around the edges and patches where moles had dug up. With little knowledge on how to grow grass, all I did was fork over the turf, water it, put the seeds down and gently forked over again. If you water every day (or if it rains) withiin a week you are getting green shoots and within 2 weeks I had 2 inch long grass. Much better than the usual brands, but this.

This seed is by far the best I have ever bought. I had managed to kill off a strip of my lawn with the over zealous use of weed killer on my adjoining pathway so tried this product as an attempted fix. The results were amazing. Within less than 2 weeks the grass had grown to over 3 inches long and needed mowing. Thick and green, you can hardly see where new lawn meets old. Would highly recommend to anyone. We didn't know anything about this but read and followed advice , were nearly giving up and ordered Gro-Sure to start again but after about 10 days they came out; we were lucky with plenty of rain for a few days followed by plenty of sunshine. I cannot complain.

Good overall product I have no complaints just make sure you cover with soil and leave to germinate ...once taken try to avoid cutting until its a bit stronger ...then it should be fine ...make sure you over seed areas where possible

Always wary of grass seed as not successful in the past. But, these seeds have grown. It has taken about two weeks on my clay soil for the grass to shoot. I have seeded five patches where my dog decided to dig holes. Followed the instructions on the pack and helpful email from seller who advised the use of top soil rather than general purpose compost (my previous mistake). I am leaving it alone for 30 days before first mow. Thank you GoodGrow, very pleased with purchase.

This grows fast. It seriously does. Within two weeks there were shoots. Within a month there was full grass and I was shocked how quickly it had worked. The grass is a lighter green than your average green grass but seems sturdy. The grass blades are not weak in any way or too thin. I am happy with it as it helped to revive a dead lawn. Be sure to aerate and remove dead grass before spreading the new seeds.

Better than the existing grass and grows faster too!!

Yes I was very pleased , once it started growing which was a little slower than it stated it’s just gone , well thick and constant it’s in the middle of my lawn and is a different shade but I have seeded the rest of the lawn now to fill in and help with shading ..

I have used many different brands of grass seed . This is, by far, the best. Be patient though ! You can see regrowth after 2 weeks but it's after 4 weeks when you see the difference. I will use again as I have a greyhound who likes to do zoomies around the garden!
