This book was published to coincide with the BBC television programme of the same name .After an introduction there are 10 chapters recording the different types of land on the planet these are-frozen poles,forests,great plains,sands,mountain heights,the underworld,fresh waters,rain foressts, shallows and ocean depths.Excellent text with magnificent pictures all of the highest standard as expected from the BBC.10 stars highly reconnended.

Excellent! Great photographs. Similar photographs from 'Planet Earth: As you've never seen it before', however it contains a lot more photographs. The book is smaller than the normal BBC books. Overall, great purchase.

Received in good condition

The photos are gorgeous as you would expect.However the paper quality is thin and the print quality lacks vibrance. In hindsight, I should have bought a larger book to do these photographs justice.

It was for my daughter. She is very happy with it. Easy to pick up and just take in pictures without lots of written info.

This book, an accompaniment to the TV series, is packed with photos and has only very limited explanatory text.The photos, for the most part, are stunning but they lose impact by being small and often spread over 2 pages. This could have been a superb book that would have graced any bookshelf or coffee table but the small, square format just does not do the pictures justice. The quality of the images just about saves this book being a complete disaster.I find it annoying that the brilliance of the photographers has been treated in this derogatory manner and feel that BBC Books are pulling a bit of a fast one here and cashing in on the TV series with little regard for the customer.

such wonderful photos, really wonderful. The captions are lovely too, i loved the series so much, this is a perfect condensed version of it (minus david attenborough's voice over...)

Un libro más de la saga, se corresponde con la calidad y acabado de los demás títulos de la colección. Aun siendo un ejemplar de segunda mano merece la pena el ahorro.

If you are familiar with the DVD series, and you enjoyed them, you will not be disappointed in this book. The quality of the photographs are amazing. The colors and the imagery are stunning. For example, there is a picture of a shark coming out of the water about to devour it's prey. Most every photograph has a brief background which sets the scene. Each paragraph is rather short and in large type so that most of the book is filled with photos. It is a great coffee table book, and appropriate for ages 8 and up. I would purchase several of these and give them as gifts. The quality of the paper and the binding will not disappoint you. Each photo takes you on a short adventure and that alone is worth the meager price of this wonderful publication.Jack Vegas

Les documentaires sur la nature de la BBC sont connus comme étant les meilleurs du monde.Planet Earth 1 a pour ainsi dire fait le tour du monde.Cet ouvrage, comme son titre anglais l'indique, présente une sélection de vues tirées de la série télévisée.Le problème de la non connaissance de la langue anglaise ne se pose pratiquement pas, le livre étant essentiellement composé de photos. Et d'ailleurs les quelques textes d'une page d'Alastair Fotherhill ne sont que des redites sur la fin de la planète terre, thème à la mode aujourd'hui.La seule chose que je puisse reprocher à cet ouvrage est sa taille réduite (22 cm x 23 cm) qui, à mon goût, ne met assez en valeur les magnifiques photos de l'ouvrage;Néanmoins pour un prix modique en bonne occasion, vous avez un bel ouvrage sur les merveilles du monde animalier de notre planète.Achat recommandé.
