The most important value of these bulbs are that they are dimmable by regulars dimers used for old type of bulbs!

ABit expensive but PHILLIPS ARE GOOD NAME IN THE ELECTRICAL BUSINESS hope they last longer than the other lot we bought different make

Replacing filament bulbs with LED can be a bit hit-or-miss notably in terms of brightness and the white temperature. In this case the initial results are excellent. The previous bulbs were clear filament 40W candle bulbs, and the replacement has been great - the white temperature and brightness both seem the same, and I am using this on a dimmer switch which works well (many LEDs do not).The only two moans I have are:a. the price - I guess if they last as long as they should then you are paying for the brand and the dimmability of them (I doubt that's a real word, but it should be!)b. I can accept on LEDs that the bottom half of the bulb is plastic (and in fact the width of light emitted is very good). However, there's too much writing on the bulbs (notably on the back of where it says Philips in the photo). This is annoying as the lights they are used on show this clearly.

These bulbs are absolutely brilliant (in both senses of the word). They are certainly far, far brighter and far better light 'spread' (distribution) than the cheap LED candle bulbs we replaced. Quite apart from being a very 'warm' (hence the name) colour (slight orange/yellow with a hint of pink) these bulbs really pack a punch in the brightness stakes. Our last bulbs were rated 12w each, but gave very poor light and interfered with our FM radio, producing a constant hiss when on during radio listening time.But these Philips bulbs perform superbly and are way, way brighter than the previous ones we had. Philips give a generous guarantee too as well as being upfront on the bulb 'output' (lumens) compared to power 'consumption', which means that the cheaper bulbs can hide their inefficiency by just stating what the bulbs 'consume', energy wise and not the amount of light output they produce. But even then some manufacturers exaggerate bulb performance, so we are left with trial and error. But these bulbs are so, so much brighter and warmer, and at half the power consumption of the last cheap ones we had (a Hong Kong supplier) it just beggars belief that bulbs can be SO different in performance.Also these bulbs are pretty to look at and give a lovely sparkle-like quality when viewed while on.As our ceiling light has only 3 bulbs in it, this pack of 4 is just right, as we then have a spare in the event of an eventual failure. But I've every confidence in these really spectacular little bulbs. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with them.Also there is NO audible interference with our FM radio either. I won't hesitate to buy these again we come to replace other bulbs in other rooms. Highly recommended and definitely worth 5 stars!

These rather expensive bulbs work well, seem fully dimmable as they don't flicker, but they're far less bright than a similar frosted bulb from the same manufacturer at the same lumens rating.

Bright and slightly warm light at full power, a little warmer when dimmed. Very pleasant on the eye. They dim smoothly on a dimmer switch that previously needed one conventional bulb amongst 5 LEDs to work properly.

They bulbs do what they say in the box. Bright, efficient and dimmable. Not a lot else you can say

Great bulbs which really do dim and do not flicker. We have some bedside lamps from John Lewis and the lowest setting is a really low dimness, the high is a full 40 watts as you’d expect.I also really like how on the dim setting the light is dappled in some way against our shade.Bought these because the amazon own ones were flickering so I’m very glad that these do what they say on the tin!
