COWIN E7 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth HeadphonesWhen I opened the box I was pleased to find there was a really nice leatherette drawstring bag inside used to store the headphones.The headphones are quite impressive. The head strap is springy so these will sit softly on the ears without causing discomfort. The head strap is also well padded, it's covered with soft leather type material. There is a good amount of adjustment too so they sit comfortably on my head.The earpieces rotate 90 degrees which is ideal for listen through just one earpiece, it also allows them to fit neatly into the storage bag taking up minimum space. The earpieces are made from attractive looking shiny black plastic, there is a triangular plate on each earpiece. The left earpiece houses the micro USB charge socket along with a small charge LED. The right earpiece houses all of the controls along with a 3.5mm stereo audio socket so you can connect these wired if you prefer not to use Bluetooth.These are really great looking headphones. As mentioned above, they are made from a combination of black leather type material along with black shiny plastic. The best part is that a large area of these headphones are actually chromed, this is not the cheap look plastic chrome you often see. This chrome has that real deep blue tinge to it, which is how chrome should look. The chrome looks shiny with no imperfections showing through so the chrome coating appears to be substantial. Boy, these headphones really do look great!How do they sound?I paired these with my phone, this was very easy to do, pairing was almost instant. I then proceeded to load up and listen to a few of my favourite tunes. To be honest I was initially quite disappointed in the sound, it was very bass heavy which was tending to drown out the fine detail of the instruments.I then set to tweaking the equaliser, I disabled the bass and completely cut the low frequencies, after a little tweaking I managed to tempt a great sound out of these.I am pleased to say, despite these being bass heavy headphones that at first don't sound that great (to me). With a bit of EQ tweaking you can tease a good sound out of these. It's a shame there isn't a switch provided that can disable the bass boost on these as not everyone wants their music to be drowned out by heavy bass.These are well made, look absolutely fabulous, but you do need to be prepared to do a little bit of tweaking to get the best out of them. Let me preface my review by explaining what I was looking for in a pair of headphones. I work in the music industry so I listen to a LOT of music EVERYDAY. It’s important for me to have not just good sound but also sound that isn’t tiring and a comfortable pair of headphones to wear for long periods of time. For listening to music I was looking for headphones with sound that doesn’t artificially boost the bass or any other frequencies too much but at the same time are not flat response headphones which are boring as hell. I’ve got some old expensive flat response headphones which I can use for proper monitoring but also wanted a reasonably priced pair of headphones which I’m not too worried about losing or damaging, can throw in a bag and can provide an everyday listening experience with a little more excitement and to give an idea of what most people will listen to music on. I tried the headphones against 5 other headphones. They really surprised me. The others were average to good but these were far better. The sound is very very good with not too many frequencies boosted as a gimmick. The trebles were very clear and the bass both deep but also precise and musical. Some headphones will boost the bass to make things sound “clubby” and that tends to cloud everything else and can get tiring. These headphones provided a nice balance and a great listening experience for long periods of time. Listening to every kind of music from hip hop, jazz, rock, pop, reggae, jungle, electronica and folk they performed great. Watching films too, the sound was very good with good rich sound for music and sound effects and clear dialogue.The noise cancelling feature was also quite decent for the price and works quite well on planes and the underground. The sound does change slightly when you switch between bluetooth only and bluetooth + noise cancelling.Battery lasts forever! Bluetooth is quick to connect and the headphone jack is a welcome plus.Sound quality for calls is reasonable but not their best feature. I’ve always found that due to mic positioning on over-ear headphones the mics naturally don’t pick up enough of your voice as opposed to outside sounds. Anyway as I said they work reasonably well for calls. Couldn't get Siri to work but calls can be answered from the headphones along with volume adjustment and skipping tracks etc.Finally as for the customer service…amazing! They arrived quickly and they come with an 18 month warranty. After just over a year I had an issue with the headphones and I contacted them and they replied the same day asking for details of the issue. I replied and they replaced them the next day!Thoroughly recommend these headphones. Best in their price range for me and absolutely superb customer service!
