I bought this product after buying the Optimum Nutrition Strawberry flavor which was awful in water and after doing some research I heard that the double chocolate was by far the best tasting product and I would have to agree. I mix this with a small amount of water, no more than half a glass (200ml) or a bit more if I use two scoops. It makes a nice thick creamy shake that tastes just like a chocolate milkshake without the milk. Its packed full of protein (23.9g) and has no added sugar (max 1g of carbs per 30g scoop) in comparison to the strawberry flavor and therefore no difference in Carbohydrate content (in case you're on a low carb diet). I have been using this product for 2 weeks as a weight loss and toning program where I cut out carbs and replace it with as much protein as possible. This is a perfect shake to take with you to work if you do not have time for lunch and keeps you going for hours. I feel very full after drinking one and certainly gives you the boost you need. If you're looking to drink this with water then definitely buy the Double Chocolate flavor. It dissolves very quickly in water leaving no lumps, I just use a fork to give it a few whisks and its ready to drink. Would definitely recommend.

The low calorie count, absence of junk, and high protein content per serving make this a winner for me. There are less expensive options if you're into bulking to cut later and not too concerned about the calorie quality, but if you're in maintenance or taking a lean gains approach, this is hard to beat really. It just affords you more control and options with foods, while having the helpful bump with the protein targets with this protein powder. Not as tasty as some (chocolate), but doesn't taste bad by any means. It's nice. I rate this very good. I trust the claimed protein concentration. My muscle gains are consistent to previous brands I've enjoyed, just without the waistline expansion. For all the reasons I've written about, I think yeah, it earns its gold standard name for my needs. Nice work ON. Very nice.

I have used quite a few different protein powders over the years as I like to try different things out until I find something I really like. This was that thing. The double chocolate flavour tastes great (subjective opinion), the powder blends great in both a blender and in a shaker - not many protein powders can claim the latter! What this means is that you don't taste clumps of congealed product every now and then and you certainly won't choke to death* when taking a sip during (before or after) a workout. *I take no responsibility for you choking to death on this product. Gone are the days of you having to drink your protein shake slowly in the corner of the gym near the ridiculous thigh machine in fear of getting caught coughing all over the gym and forever being known as 'that guy who got caught coughing up protein and spaghetti near the ridiculous thigh machine.' Gone are the days of you wondering why everyone is laughing at you this time and not your biceps because you didn't realise that you were smiling with a scoop of protein glued together with liquid stuck to your teeth. Gone are the days of after a long hard workout, you finish your refreshing protein drink, your muscles increase at sheer testosterone indueced manliness of it all and feeling like a man you walk over to the sink and opening your shaker using your newly formed deadlift grip, you bench press the tap on for three reps and start washing the shaker only to realise that all the protein is still there stuck to the lid. Down the sink it all goes along with your gains as your muscles shrivel up like a bodybuilders youknowwhat. You were better off doing cardio. This powder is revolutionary. This even mixes really well with oats. Try some oats with milk, blueberries, honey and a scoop or two of this in the morning for maximum gains.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey has been the seasoned fitness enthusiast's industry leading protein for years. I have tried a wide range of whey proteins which are cheaper, pricier, and comparable, yet this is always my benchmark for comparison. It is very difficult to find flavours (particularly the chocolate ones) that taste so delicious you feel you are drinking milkshakes and are actually excited to drink your next one. Mixability wise, this is where ON comes into its own - virtually no lumps: ever! It is remarkable as this is my main gripe with many whey proteins, particularly the cheaper options (I'm looking at you, MyProtein). ON is made with the highest quality whey isolate and you are getting 100% of the highest quality. It is not the cheapest protein in the world, but if you have the means to buy it and have your nutrition as a top priority, this is still the number 1.

Good product but they should change the bag. Received today with a giant hole and half of the protein spilled in the box. Go for the tube.

Really happy with the taste of this product and managed to get a good deal at £98. I was a bit nervous because some people were saying it was not genuine but I've compared the taste from Holland and Barrett and what I bought from here and they are exactly the same, I have no doubt it is genuine. Will definitely buy again.

Used this for more than 10 years. It was a game changer back in the day but has never been improved so is way behind compared to newer products. When I run out I will switch to Huel because it is a better quality product - I’m running them back to back and feel more alive after taking the Huel. It’s more complete and has a lot more nutritional value, plus the cheapest protein powder they have on subscription works out much better value than this! The price is now almost double what I paid 5 years ago. It’s time to move on. Thank you Optimum Nutrition and goodbye :)
