Beautiful Illustrations and Fantastic Story
If I could give this book more than 5 stars then I would as it is absolutely fantastic and a wonderful bedtime (or anytime) read. Both of my children love this book and it has been an instant hit which they ask me to read to them at least once a day and we have now had the book for almost a month and the novelty has still not worn off. We have the paperback version which is a good sized book measuring 24cm by 30cm. The book is written in a rhyming style throughout and not only is it very cleverly written but it also has absolutely gorgeous illustrations throughout. The story tells of a little mouse who is often forgotten, not noticed and disregarded by all of the other animals. The mouse watches the big brave charismatic lion on the top of his rock who has the full attention of all of the other animals and the mouse wishes he could be more like the lion. So the little quiet mouse makes the decision to be brave and make the journey up to the top of the rock to ask the lion to teach him how to be more like him. When the mouse gets to the top he has a surprise and an unlikely friendship is made. This has a lovely lesson about trusting the little voice within, being brave and that "no matter your size, we all have a mouse and a lion inside". I very rarely recommend things but I am happy to completely recommend this book if you are browsing and considering getting it as its a truly wonderful read. My children love this book and so do I and no matter the amount of times I have now read it to them it is still a joy to read.

Meaningful storyline
I bought it for my younger brother. It has a meaningful storyline and is a useful distraction, away from television and social media. I recommend this book, if you need activities to do that benefits your child's learning and development.

Bought this for my daughter who is 1yea old and loves reading. She enjoys it and better yet so do I! It’s a great read with a great message. The story flows well and illustrations are lovely. I’m sure she’ll love it more and more as she grows to understand more. I would definitely recommend for all ages

I....I mean we, loved it. My...I mean our, new fave book
I don’t think I’ve ever read a more enjoyable children’s book. I bought this and the worrysaurus For my son has has some anxiety/worry/fear issues, he’s 3in a few days & he can spend too much time in his head, over thinking everything. He can go a while where I think he’s crossed that bridge & then Something triggers his behaviour & it then opens new subject matters in his little & before you know it he’s diving into the couch at the sound of passing cars &hiding from the lamp post outside (it looks like a dippy-docuss) & worried that he’ll get bitten by a shark. The Gruffalo is his absolute worst nightmare & unfortunately it’s everywhere, it’s on other Julia Donaldson books, in other Julia Donaldson books, it now has a child. It’s also a nursery fave. He loves books though, we spend a lot of time reading & he enjoys trips to the library. Over time I’ve been looking for books to help him be brave & think more in the now. Some of the books I’ve looked at that are aimed at toddlers with issues like worry or fright but are absolutely ridiculous, with overbearingly depressing titles, written using language that over complicates their problem & could easily baffle the mind of a 3 year old. But they over complicate how to handle things as a parent. The message needs to be positive & fun. At the end of the day, the importance should be that the child enjoys books, books are supposed to be loved & you can’t not enjoy this book. It’s just as lovely as the others from the author & beautifully illustrated but I found it a real giggle & therefore so did my boy. I don’t know why we didn’t buy it sooner. Everyone should own this book, it’s not just for worriers, it’s a brilliant read. (The worrysaurus was also a huge hit in our house)
