Form over function
Aesthetically, this kettle it is amazing. They say a watched kettle never boils. If this were the case, my kettle would never boil. The bright blue LEDs glow through the bubbles as it comes to the boil. Try it at night.Practically, it is awful. The spout design ensures that boiling water spills down the side of the kettle out on the table top as you pour. You need to hold the kettle upside down as you pour to avoid this.Would I buy another one? ... this is my second!!!

Great kettle for soft water
Great kettle so long as you don't live in a hard water area. The blue light that comes on when the kettle is heating up is very impressive; the handle is comfortable, the on/off switch excellent, the kettle's not obtrusively noisy. For the first week it's pretty much perfect. But if you live in a hard water area, the kettle quickly starts calcifying up inside, which slightly spoils the look as the glass become cloudy. I can live with that but then little flecks of calcium break off from the glass and end up floating on the top of your cup of tea or coffee (a problem I've never had with a plastic or metal kettle but noted in other reviews). If you take your drink with milk, the flecks are not obvious but without milk the drinks look really unattractive. The strainer in the lid doesn't catch much (it's meant to but it's not a close fit). If you descale your kettle every fortnight, this probably won't be an issue, but I'm not used to having to clean the inside of my kettle so regularly, so it's back to a plastic kettle and no floaters. Disappointing as the blue light gave the kitchen a space-age glow which everyone liked.

Good bit of kit for the price.
Nice bit of kit! Matches the image exactly. As far as kettles go I'd say it is one of the better looking ones and quite sturdy and well made. Boils water quickly and is quieter than our last kettle. The blue lights give it a great look in the dark (not that you'd be boiling a kettle in the dark ... but whatever floats your boat I suppose!). Obvious advantage of a glass kettle is you can see exactly how much water is in the kettle and you can easily see how close it is to the boil. We have had it a few weeks now and so far so good. No sign of limescale/furring but we are in a soft water area (South Devon) so it shouldn't be a problem but I wonder how quickly it would scale up in a harder water area and start to look less attractive. That said it's a good bit of kit for the price and I would recommend it. The only minor criticism is the plastic hinged lid which is a little less sturdy than the rest of it and you cannot easily fill the kettle direct from the tap without opening up lid ... otherwise it would be 5 stars!

I like the fact that I can see the water and ...
I was initially very impressed with this purchase. I like the fact that I can see the water and the blue light is an added feature (but totally unnecessary), although this was probably one of the reasons that I bought it. Having used it now for a couple of months, I find the kettle quite heavy to lift, especially if there is a lot of water in it - heavier than my last kettle anyway. I also don't like the way that it pours - it seems to be at a 90 degree angle, so you need to find your own technique on how to pour a perfect cuppa without covering your surfaces also. You also need to ensure that the top is shut tight against the glass, and you do this by lifting the lever in the lid. I like the look of it and it does the job, as well as being a good price, so 4 stars from me.

Found in a hedge.
I ordered this kettle in May 2016.I never received it and never bothered to follow up on it. I was sad and annoyed but let it go.Yesterday - July 2020 - I was doing some long needed gardening. Next to my side gate is a large hedge and I set to it with clippers and almost falling into my shocked hands, fell a beautiful glass kettle wrapped in plastic. There also was a plug and base, also securely wrapped. I’m supposing that all other packaging had rotted away n the years it sat in my hedge. I took it doors and cleaned it up and after filling it with water I plugged it in and it worked! Now I don’t know if I’ll ever use it to make a cuppa but it’s a damned good kettle to still work after the horror it went through and survived with all lights aglowing.

Like: - why not to be able to open ...
Does the job, but.Design goes to a direction when the ONLY thing that matters is how it looks. I had another (even cheaper) one before it, and I somehow took it for granted that the same common sense engineering achievements are known around the world. Like:- why not to be able to open the lid with one hand, namely with your thumb? You could say it's not a big thing, but if it's invented already, why not? I know, the on/off button is there, but that leads to another problem:- when it's on and you lift it off of its base and you put it back it stays on and goes on with the boiling (until it would switch off anyway).- the balance of it is not right, it is lenaing forward- heavy dripping. If you pour it half or double the given speed, then it's dripping. So either really slowly or - as I sometimes do - turn it upside down completely.Otherwise it looks great, no funny taste, so works well, just why is common sense forgotten? Why use 2 hands when 1 could be enough, and as we are talking about a kitchen and often early mornings, we all now how useful that other hand could be.
