I love the look of this hard drive, the mixture of glossy and matte panels works really well and the rectangular design with the ridges looks very stylish. I literally plugged it in and it was good to go, it already had the latest firmware and was pre-formatted so I could see it on my PC. I ran the CrystalDiskMark v6 hard drive benchmark utility and as you can see from my pictures it scores an impressive sequential read/write score of over 190MB/s which is pretty impressive for a mechanical hard drive. The usable space on my Windows PC shows up as 5.45TB which is down to the conversion of the units and is perfectly normal and the same for all hard drives. Overall, this was a great buy at a great price and I would throughly recommend it if your looking to add some additional space to your PC. We see drive sizes at TB but drives see it as TiB. Converting 8TB to 8TiB is 7.27596TB Converting 6TB to 6TiB is 5.45697TB Converting 4TB to 4TiB is 3.63798TB Hope this helps. **Q: Is this compatible with XP** A: XP? surely not. **Q: By 'full system backup' does this include a system image & programmes etc as well as docs, pics, music ?** A: Well, as its just an external drive, there's no restriction on what you can store subject to capacity constraints. HOW and WHAT to store is entirely up to you. Are you actually asking about software to accomplish these tasks??? If so, WD let you download a freebie copy of Acronis True image from the WD support site. Whether this can also be used for file backup/restore is not something I can comment on but is it doesn't, you could use the Microsoft supplied tools (with win 7, 8 and 10) to do this. Personally, I prefer Macrium Reflect. Although it can do file and folder backup as well as imaging disks, I don't bother with file backup. I do a full system image once per week, then differential images for the rest of the week. Given this, there's no point in performing file/folder backups since Macrium images can be mounted as temporary drives and the files/folders that are needed to recover from eg accidental deletions can be extracted from the mounted image. I believe, but cant swear to Acronis True Image having analogous capabilities but I am referring to the full product - whether the WD freebie version includes this capability is another matter! **Q: hi will this work with ps4 pro thanks** A: Confirming, works pretty nicely with my PS4 Pro. One caveat though: The hard drive may not properly switch off if the console is left on standby mode. It is a work-horse hard drive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked out of the box. *by M***H on 14 December 2023* I bought this drive as the previous WD drive I use for system/data backups threw a wobbly after a power cut. Straight out of the box I connected it up and fired up the iMac backup software. After choosing this drive as the backup target the system formatted it and I ran the first backup. My backups come out at just under 2gb so this 4gb drive will have ample space for the process. It just sits thee doing it’s thing until I need to recover a file. These drives are reliable and last for a good time the last one for five years until a rogue heater dropped out our RCD and caused an issue with it. I am able to read from it so will still have nearly six months of previous backups to hand if needs be.
