Don't let this band fade into obscurity - Classic Soul from early 70's
Lovely album from this iconic yet overlooked band. Sound quality was good, the tracks I was aware of and sought were all there, in particular the classic "Have you seen her", "Oh girl" (My personal favourite - put with some sledge for your classic romantic mix-tape), and the haunting "The coldest days of my life" provide a great middle segment, but there are many great tracks on here.

Best of: highlights by...The Chi-lites
The Chi-lites: were a popular soul vocal group from Chicago,USA and most successful in the earlier half of the 1970's.Consisting of (amongst others) Eugene Record - and contributions from his song-writing partner and wife - Barbara Acklin; they achieved no fewer than nine top 40 hit singles in the UK - between 1971 and '76.These include - often charming - and timeless classics such as; Have you seen her,Oh girl,Homely girl,Too good to be forgotten,It's time for love and You don't have to go - all included on this collection - as is debut hit: For god sake (you got to give more power to the people) - a human rights anthem in a way.Apart from the hits, other best of songs from The Chi-lites are included.most notably: Are you my woman - familiar to a latterday fan base of soul diva Beyonce, sampled on her smasheroo - Crazy in love.Their songs were much covered with artists such as: Paul young,UB 40,Amyzulu and MC Hammer (remember his take on Have you seen her)! The Chi-lites may no longer be active, but their influence and legacy certainly live on.This 1996 release of: The Chi-lites: The very best of the Brunswick years; is a very good to excellent compilation.the familiar but rather trite message on: There will never be any peace (until God is seated at the conference table) - is very repetitive vocally and goes on a bit - and is the only real let down on the whole collection.Excellent liner notes are included in inner-sleeve booklet, giving more insight into The Chi-lites career.I bought this compilation to replace a previous one I bought some time ago,and i can no longer lay my hands on.this one I'm reviewing is well recommended - enjoy it!

Case was already broken when cellophane removed
Music excellent but the cd case was brken under the cellophane. It must have been so when wrapped as the broken piece of the hinge (top) was missing - very annoyed about it!!!!!
