Yes! It comes with our Dot Grid Refill. The refill has 72 pages of fountain pen friendly Tomoe River paper. The Field Journal can hold up to six refills and will also fit any standard A5-sized hardcover notebooks.

I want to be able to print things from a computer and store in here as well as keep notes by hand. if i folded a 8.5x11 in half, would it fit?

Yes, it does. I have one and have tested it. The guy who said no must lack basic math skills.

It arrived with excessive scratches, spine area looks wavy as if stored under odd shaped object. Dissimilar to ad pics except one. Normal?

I use italian notebooks that are 5 3/4 x 8 1/4x 1 inch- will they work in this cover? will the spine accommodate a 1 inch spine notebook?

Yes, it'll definitely fit! We expanded the spine to fit several of our refills, or thicker A5 notebooks. One inch in thickness is no problem.
