Cyclaire Switch Bridge 3 Pack Lock Covers, Prevent Accidental Switching, Ideal for Hue, Black, Push Button Actuator, Manual Operation

The media could not be loaded. I bought this switch lock cover after upgrading my office lights with Ikea Tradfri Smart Lights. With these smart light systems (or others like the Phillips Hue lighting system), you leave your light switch on all the time and control the light with either an app or a separate remote.This is great except after years of repetitive action, we are conditioned to fondle the wall for a light switch when walking into a dark room! Most smart lights come with wallmounts for remotes but it doesn't change the position of the existing light switch (see the attached picture).I debated getting a blanking plate or a key operated light switch like those used in public buildings but after a bit of searching I came across Light switch covers. Most of the switch covers I saw were black and would stand out like a sore thumb against the white switch.This cover is semi-translucent and blends in really well. Its a small strip of plastic which fixes above and below the switch using double sided tape (provided with the covers). In the pack you get three switch covers, some tape and a little plastic key which lets you turn the switch on and off without removing the cover.Some reviews state it is not very sturdy and the switch can still be pressed through the plastic. This is true to some degree;If you prod at your light switch with enough anger and force that even Master Yoda would be convinced you are on the dark side, then yes, you can press the switch (or more likely, dislodge the light switch cover so that it falls off).However, if you push a light switch normally, without fire in your heart, aching in your bones and a burning in your soul, it works perfectly - you fumble for the switch, prod it and realise it's covered - behaviour correction at it's finest!The cover will also have a little flex as it doesn't have sides (to allow it to be used as a middle switch cover).Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and think I will be getting some more as my smart lighting adventure continues!

Great item available to stop a child from pressing a switch.Comes with its own self adhesive strips and instructions for how to use. Good deterrent from children pressing the switch, although it is still possible to access the switch. This is done from putting your finger in the small gap to the side in order to switch the switch.This isn’t as good if you have a determined child or need to use the switch yourself and have larger fingers!Overall however it’s great option to keep children away from switches they’re not supposed to be touching.

Brilliant little things. Now and again I've found myself accidentally switching off something I shouldn't, (The freezer, the modem etc) and these are great for making sure I don't. Easily applied and secured with the supplied sticky tape, or use your own if you like. There's little access holes to slot a paperclip through and turn on and off the switch just in case you need it.

We've been fitting Hue lights in several rooms and came across the usual problem of people pressing the existing light switch and leaving the smart lights with no power so they didn't respond to commands from the Hue hub. We bought this system and also tried a much more expensive switch cover which fits over the existing switch and holds a Hue remote. The fancier system is nice because it holds the Hue remote but was a total pain to install, it was very hard to get the screws to align properly to fit through the new cover, then the old switch and into the wiring box in the wall. These ones go on in seconds. If you align them just slightly off centre you can press the existing switch with a finger from the side and don't even need to use the little tool they provide or a credit card if it is necessary to power off the Hue bulb.

The price on these should be £2.40, I can live with 80p for some plastic bits that fit over lightswitches plus some thin tape. I didn't expect to have to put much effort into doing these but it's taken about an hour for 10 switches, the first one took a while as I assumed I could just do it with my hands. The rest were quicker as I got some tiny scissors and a precision tool.These should be pre-cut, pre attached to the switch and easily peeled off. Instead you're stuck cutting this tiny tape to the correct size and then trying to pull off the backing of the tape is just a nightmare with your nails, it's so tiny you'll pull the whole tape off, that's why I got my little precision tool out that made it easier.Once attached I think it looks fairly neat. Someone wrote in a previous review "Stronger than they look". I assume that person is a genius toddler who bought them with a parents card. They're exactly as strong as they look, which is to say, they're weak little pieces of plastic attached by average strength tape, think slightly stronger than cello tape and weaker than duct. If you've forgotten they're there and you go to press the switch as you normally would, it presses in and then pops off the wall. If a visitor goes to press a switch in the dark, these are coming off, for sure. They're a useful little reminder not to press the switch and will maybe prevent a pretty light press but if anyone presses these without looking you're done. Frankly 3 stars is generous but they don't cost very much. They should cost less for all the building it yourself.

Ideal to cover a switch for an outside sensor light. You can still access the switch if required.

Well packed and installs very easily.Can only use it on switches where there is at least a 2cm gap between swiches. Trued it on a 3 switch combination and they were too close together for it to be used.However, on the two switch combination it works very well and now there is no chance of accidentally switching on the attic light and leaving it on un-noticed.Using anything like a credit card enables any covered switches.
