It’s a zippo. It’s what you’d expect from a zippo. Colour is accurate to picture, I’m in love with it actually. It works just as any zippo lighter should; no leakage, large flame and solid build.

I've always wanted a Zippo and was glad to see one with the colour I like. The price was great too so I made the leap (I never bought one as I was wary of using lighter fluid). I ordered got the Zippo lighter (plain, yellow) and separately the fuel, flint and wicks. As with all serious Amazon sellers, both ordees arrived within the day, so I was up and running just over 24 hours from when I ordered these. I didn't know how to load the fluid on the Zippo canister (which is inside the yellow metal cover) but the lighter comes is a sturdy Zippo presentation cardboard box with well written and perfectly illustrated step by step processes. So I got a screwdriver (you don't really need one as you can use a coin or other flat rigid item to turn the screw at the bottom a little lose) and without removing the screw/spring/flint I lifted the padding a bit and added the Zippo lighted fluid. I noticed the wick/string placement on the drawings and checked Youtube to see whether I had to do something about it. I saw in a video that you can remove the 5 cotton-ball like fluffy pads inside the canister and place the wick and padding so that it snakes down from the ignition section at the top. Apparently a good placement of the wick assures a more efficient use of the fuel and less wear to the wick. As I had already poured the lighter fluid, some of the padding was wet and the smell was sort of fuel-ish at first but I was surprised at how quickly that dissipated too. So I replaced the wick and padding, and the screw that loads the flint with a spring and closed it tight and put it back on the casing. FYI, the Zippo lighter came with 2 flints loaded into the spring which means that when one runs out there is another one right behind it. Like Pez. So happy with my new Zippo and glad it was so easy to manage/setup. No more disposable plastic lighters that jam or usb lighters that just feel so wrong and flimsy and plastic. I can see that it will take me a little time to understand how to manage the flame size. I think it may have to do with how and where I poured the lighted fluid. I am for sure covered in a gale though. I am thinking about a Zippo hand warmer now as I have lost the fear of manipulating the lighter fluid. I had been exploring the electric ones and want something less dependent on cables and electricity. Very happy with my new Zippo.

Amazing lighter. Quality is amazing

I had one of these for a few years and loved the boxy design and external hinge. It worked perfectly. Sadly I lost it during a move- fell out my top pocket. It was worn and tarnished and looked as it should. I ordered a replacement. Amazon send out Zippo's by courier for a next day delivery- even if you pick the free delivery option (due to RM restrictions I gather); this is worth noting. The replacement had a lid which did not shut flush. I did everything I could but this particular one beat me and I ended snapping off the little part inside the lid- I'd fiddled too much, not so much since my teenage years in fact. I ordered another, same case- free delivery- arrived next day. Amazon sent the wrong one; it had a picture of the Zippo girl on it. I noticed this also had a lid which didn't sit flush. I spoke to Amazon, whom I must commend for their excellent customer service and a replacement was to be sent out and the wrong one picked up by courier the next day. I asked Amazon if they could be sure to pick a 1935 with a lid which sits flush, and they most certainly did. A rare treat of outstanding CS in this world of incompetence. So the message hidden within my rambling is that if you get a lighter with a flush lid, you will have lasting and healthy product worthy of 5 stars. But these appear to be hit and miss as my ratio is 50% lucky out of 4. (The new one is still shiny and perfect looking which I can only take as a sign that I have clearly not smoked enough, and must improve on my feeble efforts.)

I have used Zippos for many years now,all shapes sizes and finishes,for the simple reason that they are reliable,easy to maintain,easy to fill,windproof,very robust and come with a lifetime guarantee.So why did I pick this particular model?Well I was intrigued by the straight edge and the outside hinge giving it a very distinctive look from all other makes of windproof lighter.It still has that unique zippo sound when opening and closing and is as easy to strike as it always have been.It is 1/8th of an inch shorter than the standard modern zippo so if,like me,you are used to sparking up automatically,you might find it a little strange at first.It takes any standard insert,so there is a bit of movement inside the case,but not really a problem.The sides are a mirror finish and the front and back are a very nice heavy grind brushed finish that gives off a bit of a reflection unlike the almost matt finish of the more modern brushed chrome.I really like this lighter and it lights my ciggies.Only one thing puzzles me,if it's made on the same machines using the same materials and using the same processes,How come this is a replica?

Great zippo

My husband goes through lighters like tomorrow, and has tried virtually everyone going from cheapy bic lighters to really expensive ones. Both of us never thought of ZIPPO lighters much, mainly because we have just carried on buying rubbish ones as it turned out. So in the end back on Amazon I go to search and search for a lighter, please let me find one, it was driving me mad. So in comes the Zippo windproof lighter, so there you go, done a full circle and came back to Zippo, difference being this time, I am sticking with them. It is really funny really as always did use the zippo fluid, as did my Nana, so why not buy the official lighter. So I ordered in the matt blue, arrived really nice in the way it was presented. So gimmicks at all, just a plain blue. The colour my husband chose himself. The sellers page showing the image of this lighter is zoomed in a lot. A lot of people who have used Zippo before will know these are not large lighters, well this one isn’t. It is very small and It can fit in the palm of my hand. On any mid range lighters he has bought before has had issues, some of those issues are the flints go quickly with the amount of zapping to see the flame, or the lighter fluid constantly needs re filling, or out in the streets or countryside, the lighter blows out. This next part is the thoughts of my what my husband is telling me to write on this blue Zippo lighter. 1. Very comfortable to hold 2. Hardly have to keep refilling up with Zipper lighter fluid usually every 5-6 days for him. 3. He doesn’t have to keep flicking the ignition to light 4. No sore thumbs or fingers, one flick and lit. 5. Does not blow out in the wind 6. At review from buying the lighter, the flint is still perfect after two weeks, so holds up really well 7. Really light to hold and because of the colour blue, does not get lost or mislaid easily. 8. Will be good for lighting fires to burn rubbish or camping fires. 9. Windproof 10. Material brass 11. The best ever lighter!! Original stuff. I wish a set of Zippo Fluid, Flints and Wick were also included in the package which would have removed the hassle of ordering it separately knowing fully well that without these the lighter cannot be used.
