No Clean HDMI output
Its a great camera, if you just want to point and shoot!I've bought this camera initially to livestream with it but it doesn't have a clean HDMI output meaning that whatever appears on the camera screen it also shows up on stream & that was the main reason that made me return it otherwise like I've mentioned it's a great camera!

Excellent quality but linited 4k options
Camera can record brilliantly in 4k and the footage it creates is amazing. However, you should be aware that it will only record 4k in either 25fps (default) or 24fps. Whilst that may be perfectly ok for most folks, it can lead to stuttering if the camera is panned too fast. Even though camera is based on 8 years old technology now, you should still be aware of this and this is not very well called out in the description. So I am knocking a mark off for that. Further research shows that to get 4k with more options such as 60fps requires a much more expensive device.Other than that disappointment, it has great zoom and build quality is very nice.

funny movements
Every time when you press the Record button, the camera adjusts the position of an object moving it around for about 3 seconds before it stops. I use a good tripod, so it is purely the camera effect, which I do not know how to stop.

Really good video quality in a small and affordable package
I own three now. For me they do everything a 4k video camera needs to do, and they don't cost a fortune. Separate audio in and out is the key feature for me. Using wired and wireless mics is much better than the on board mics. They are so compact, I keep all three in a Stanleys screw holding box!

Domestic camera with pro video
This camera does exactly what it says on the tin and works well providing U3 cards are used. Semi-pro equipment. It is fairly solid for a plastic body, however it is a domestic camera with professional video capabilities. No line input but a -40db pad in the stereo microphone input soon sorts this out.

Poor for a relatively high end prosumer device
Somewhat disappointing that for the money I paid it doesn’t offer 30\60fps, and only 25/50fps. This means footage tends to be jerky on monitors running at 60hz. Shame on Panasonic for omitting this.

Panasonic HC-VX980EB-K 4K Camcorder
This 4K video camera https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01AAGIR8A/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0offers amazing quality. Still getting to grips with its multi functions, but I bought it mainly for the quality and for the time lapse facility which works well. Surprised that the SD card socket is on the base, so this would mean removing camera from the tripod to change...will update this review once I've more experience, but so far, am very pleased though the cost was a definite consideration !

I like it a lot. Very small, very discreet and does what I expect Panasonics to do!
No complaints so far- 4k is good stuff, bit heavy on the video editing programme (and I'd prefer not to have to transcode before use but that is down to me wanting to use FC Pro 7 so not really a camera problem) but crystal clear. The camera has got axis balance adjustment (I had to return a Sony FDR-AX53 because it was way too "floaty") which is not excessive and certainly doesn't look uncontrolled. It is really very small (I like my cameras heavier and larger) but it has all the necessary ports and options. Small niggle? The port covers, though nicer than most I have encountered in that they slide not pull open, slide open too easily.OK- so I am a bit annoyed by the automation and the inability to permanently create preferred user settings for the dial at the front, but I will live. At the end of the day it is a consumer camera, not a professional and the trend is to automating so much these days across all of these cameras.I tested the mic and can say that it is not half bad. I did the test under quite extreme conditions (close quarters at a live blues gig with a sound engineer who likes to really crank it up) and it performed reasonably well for the acoustic set, not so good when the gig turned electric. It will clip but the compensation is actually way better than my Panasonic HVX200 inbuilt. More then adequate for using in non-concert situations (and, for me, as reference sound like never before) and will be used with an external sound recorder such as a ZOOM in future. Again- ports-a-plenty.
