Staedtler Fimo 8700 05 Acrylic Roller

I purchased this rolling pin for polymer clay modelling. It’s excellent for evenly rolling and shaping the clay. It’s lightweight and relatively non-stick to the clay, which means it’s easy to use.

Used item with dry fimo on it, stapled back into packaging.Not happy having to pay full price for a second hand item.

This roller is very useful and easy to clean with a bit of wet kitchen roll. The finish is smooth and blemish free and I have managed to keep it so. I may still buy a pasta machine too because it will be easier to roll a nice flat uniform thickness sheet of Fimo.I have a small marble chopping board that I use specifically for working with Fimo and using it with this roller you can get really flat and smooth sheets of Fimo.

I needed a smooth roller for rolling out clay and Fimo, and whilst I do have a wooden rolling pin for pastry I didn't think it would be smooth enough for clay work, and also it was a bit big and unwieldy. This roller is perfect as it's the right size and incredibly smooth. Having said that, it is just a cylinder of plastic and I did feel that it is a bit overpriced for what it is.

I have begun to make my collection of tools for polymer clay making, and this roller looked ideal. It is neat and not over large so you don't need vast amounts of space, and being acrylic is perfect for polymer clay. Or sugar fondant, or anything really where you need a small roller. I am thinking of my Christmas peppermint creams here..... Still, highly recommended and a very reasonable price.

Seems to be tremendously overpriced for what it is... a roller of acrylic. Look for a non-stick rolling pin at B&M, etc first, but if you're desperate for a quality brand then this certainly works a treat on Fimo polymer clay.
